Anyone use aspirin in plant water?

Never heard of that... I don't take any asprin myself - Keep clear of the stuff, even if I have a head ache (my philosophy is not to take anything unless I need to) so I've never had the chance to try it.

I agree with not taking anything unless it's really needed, but I thought everyone kept a bottle of aspirin in the house. I think I even took two of them once last year.

I occasionally donate blood at Carter Bloodcare and they don't want you to donate if you've taken anything, even an Alka-Seltzer, with aspirin in it the last few days.

I put two aspirins in a gallon pitcher and pour in a half a gallon of sprite and a half a gallon of HOT water for the first watering of our fresh cut Christmas tree each year. The HOT water opens up the capillaries in the trunk and lets if soak up water faster. The sugar water is supposed to act like an IV and the aspirin, well, that's in case the tree has a stroke!

But seriously, when I worked at a wholesale florist we received cut flowers from all over the world. The first thing we would do every morning is fill several hundred cans with HOT water, take the flowers out of the boxes, chop off about 2" of the stems with a hatchet and then smash the fresh cut ends with the back side of the hatchet and immediately put them into the hot water. We never used aspirin at the shop.

I have no idea what it would do for plants in a garden.
