Is anyone else using Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta? If so is it working for you? When I installed the software it immediately detected and eliminated two spy-ware programs. Maybe it's my imagination but I swear my computer is now running faster as a result.

Ain't it the truth. Was using IE on one machine, switched it to Netscape and it is faster now. note: this is a fast P4 system.
Ben

A couple of the other spyware finder programs actually install spyware !! Maybe this was what MS found, who knows maybe they put one of their own in there?

I really dislike Outlook Express. I have used a registered version of Eudora for years and swear by it, which is much, much better than swearing at it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

IE I can live with, at least for now. If it gives me problems I will switch to something that less likely to cause headaches. I really dislike software that makes more work than it saves.....

Frank too soon to say one way or another that's why I asked, but we will give beta a try.

Junkman actually recommended it. He said he had to buy a Kubota to get his free copy. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Junk's kindness is actually starting to grow on me.

To answer, Mike, no I haven't tried it. A little of your background in this matter may be helpful to me and others: What anti-spyware were you using before, etc? I've used Spybot S&D, free version, with ok results, as far as I know ... haven't run it for a while but haven't seen the need. Hope MS works out well for ya.
Cheers!

It's the second thing I disable on my Windows partitions, right after Windows Scripting Host.

If I am using Windows, which I do only infrequently, I use "The Bat" for an email client. I think it is one of the better Windows email clients, and it is relatively inexpensive. For browsers, I use Opera, Firefox, or as an absolute last resort, IE.

Most of the time, I run Debian Linux and don't have to deal with any Redmond originated nonsense.

Thanks for the kind words ..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I have been using it for over a month now, and I also have Spybot, Adaware, and Pest Patrol. While it doesn't catch everything, it has eliminated most of the spyware attacks that I was receiving that the other 3 programs would find and remove. The best part of this new program for me is that it automatically updates, runs the program, and cleans out any that it finds. New spyware threats are being found every day and this program is updated every day. Sure IE and OE have there problems, but so will the others once they become popular enough that the people that write worms & virus's decide that they too are worth attacking... Just my opinion..... Junk..

I think i have run every anti-spy software there is and without a doubt Microsofts is the best hands down. Powerful and fast too.
