I'm considering purchase of a Griffin brand dump trailer. They look very well built but any user feedback would be appreciated. They use a dual ram hoist not a scissor hoist which may or may not be good depending on who I talk to. My only experience has been with scissor type hoists which work well so I'd love to hear from anyone who has a trailer with the dual ram set up.

Thanks,Drew

My brother is actually a dealer for Griffin in Nichols, NY. They are very well built compared to the competition. I know he sells both styles, scissor hoist and dual ram. I think the scissor hoist is an option. Most of what he stocks is dual ram. I don't think he's had any complaints with either setup. They're power up and down, which is nice if you lower it with a load in in, so it doesn't slam down. Hope this helps.

Very cool! Thanks! The trailer will be used pretty hard and I'm trying to figure out if they have a good track record for commercial use. In my research so far online and by phone I haven't found a complaint so far. I could buy a load trail or pj that have a bigger following but they're at least $1000 more. They have a few more bells and whistles but I'm not sure if they're actually any stouter.

One thing I like about the Griffin is the third frame rail on the bigger units. I'm not sure if anyone else does this, but it gives you a third pivot point in the rear. I believe the factory is in Indiana. Not sure how far away you are. Good luck with whichever brand you choose.

Yes I noticed the frame rail in the center. Didn't realize it had a hinge as well. I live in south central indiana and but my aunt and uncle live just miles from the griffin factory. Unfortunately they don't sell factory direct. A dealer up there sells a bunch of them though. $5750 for a 83" by 14'. Sounds ok but doesn't include an adjustable coupler or a very heavy duty jack. A local dealer to me can get me a load trail for almost exactly $1000 more and it has an adjustable coupler, scissor hoist and an I-beam frame. Tough decisions....
