If you don't like hoards of people, Edisto Island may be your place.
I love Topsail because it doesn't get crowded there in the summer. Edisto island seems to be more remote with less roads and less restaurants than Topsail, so we have a feeling well be going back.
It was about a one hour and 45 minute drive south to Savanah, and we were told it was only an hour drive north to Charleston. Spent a day in Savanah, good time. Seems the area may get overlooked due to Hilton head in the south, which if is the case, I'm greatful for.
End of year on the island and the restaurants weren't all that bad on the island that we went to.
The absolute amazing thing about the island is the amount of shells you can find. We found 3 silver dollars, 4 starfish, and at least 7 Conch shells we kept. We actually got picky about the conch shells and we could really never find them in the past at Topsail.
An idea on the beach one morning on the shells, it really was pretty remarkable IMO
And a VERY nice picture my wife took...
I like the shore/beach without people. This shore/beach may fit the bill very well. Reality is don't know how crowded ANY shore/beach gets the week before Thanksgiving. Just know I will NEVER go to Myrtle beach and I always thought of Jersey shores as I do NYC for the most part (Atlantic city highlights when I was a kid was really never in the sand or ocean).
