Fun Fact: Wall Street used to really be a wall to keep the feral pigs out. Based upon the recent happenings it sounds like they need to put up a new wall.

Sounds like the hog population is doing pretty good and growing. It's funny that they think they can control it, where every other state has failed at this. It's just a matter of time until you find some ground torn up at your place and some funny looking deer tracks!!!!

I saw hogs three days in a row last week. Two of those days was with Steph. She tried to get on them for a shot, but the wind got us the first time, and then they just didn't stand still where she could get a shot the other times. It was nice having the deer blind to watch them from. Especially after it got dark out and a big group showed up. There was over 20 of them, and they made a bunch of noise. We could see their shapes with our binoculars, but it was too dark for a shot. What's really fun is just hearing them. They fight and squeal all the time and it's very, very loud!!!

Good fun.

In my country - ok, in the first of my countries:D - or the area that's now Czech Republic was the wild boar hunted extensively for agriculture damages and the last one was killed in 1801. They had a comeback 1945 - 1952 due to damages done to hunting preserves by that little incident (WWII) that rolled through Europe.
Nowadays they have to be hunted to keep them at acceptable level, the hunting season is August to December for adult boars and year around for piglets and yearlings. The typical hunt is pushed.
I spent a lot of time camping in forests when I lived there and saw a wild boar only few times, they are nocturnal and very shy boogers:)

Be on the lookout for these Wild Hogs also. Although you may want to have a beer with them...funny movie, I enjoyed it.

Hey Eddie,
Is there a dusk to dawn hunting limit on them or can they be hunted at night like raccoons? I wonder if some remote control spot lights around your feeder that could be turned on to light things up would work or if the light would scare them off? Just wondering.

It's legal to shoot them 24/7. Heck, I think those in charge are in favor of just about anything to get people to kill as many as possible. I've thought about putting a solar light on the feeder, but haven't done anything about it. Maybe I'll see what the stores have that might work.

The weather is warming up, and hogs can't cool themselves. If they get too hot, they die. So they are pretty much nocturnal and you rarely see them.

Never seen one in the wild in NY or heard of them here yet but it sure looks like a fun thing to hunt.

You ever get tire of eating them? :)

Not really, but I don't eat allot of meat, and when I do, it's mostly chicken. In the last few years, red meat (beef), venison and hog has started to give me issues. A little bit is fine, but a good sized steak is gonna send me to the bathroom for an extended period of time. First it was ice cream and dairy products, now it's red meat. I'm really worried what's next!! :D

It is a very tasty meat and one of the few that you can grill up just like it is. I can't say that about deer meat, and I've hunted and eaten blacktails, whitetails and mule deer. Like most animals, the younger ones are better tasting. Ideally, I think a 40 to 80 pound hog is just about perfect, but I've had them even smaller and they are good too. Just allot of work for very little results. After 100 pounds, they start to toughen up, and the bigger the get, the less I want to eat them. Fortunately, my wife has allot of family here that enjoys spending hours preparing and seasoning hog meat. Her brother can take a 300 pound boar and have it tasting like fajitas from a restaurant. His steaks are to die for!!!
