I'm just like atsah, I've wondered the same thing. My neighbor is really into guns and has loads, several ARs also. He set up a range, shoots all the time. I took my .243 Ruger bolt action over, zeroed in the scope and put a few bullets through the target center dot. I can't understand or see sense in repetitive shooting. Once it's dialed in that's it. Just my opinion.
It would be so boring and costly...bang,bang,bang...50-100 rounds!
Target shooting is a great sport and pastime...the price of .223 and 5.56 ammo make it relatively cheap for playing...much less than standard hunting rounds like 30-06, .270, .35 or even 30-30's...check out the ballistics of the .22wmr and check the local prices...the cost has come down...another thing about .22 WMR's is they are available in a variety of projectile weights and styles...
