Ironic really, that just above this in the "storm 51" thread https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/related-topics/415067-storm-area-51-a-18.html a similar discussion is taking the opposite direction.

There are whack jobs out there who really would go nuts about gun buybacks; some of those are the people we should be worrying about in the first place. Yet when it came down to it, how many average citizens do you think would really buck the laws? Besides, it wouldn't happen at once; they would gradually increase the laws as we grew accustomed to them.

Insidious the way human rights are taken away.

Taken by whom?

Fear of power?

Ah, yes, the frog in the boiling water trick.

"Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think that criminals have too many guns is like getting a vasectomy because you think your neighbors have too many kids."

Good one.

The problem is that guys like "Beto" and his ilk think WE are the criminals. Anyone that doesn't think like him is a "terrorist" An organization that I am a life member of has been declared a terrorist organization and all of its members are terrorists. It has already been done. So in San Francisco, I am a terrorist.

That's how it begins. How many school kids are being taught that the same organization is somehow responsible for all of the current gun violence? Yet, rather than some mindless 3 letter word, said organization get's it's strength from the members.

I still believe though, that every right includes an equal amount of responsibility; if we don't somehow find a way to address things such as mass shootings, "they" are going to do it for us.
The real truth though is that the genie is out of the bottle; we will never get it back in.

Gun violence never was a gun problem. It's always been a violence problem.

I'm sure assault and murder predate projectile weaponry. Clubs, spears, and arrows were classic assault weapons before firearms were dreamed of.

Common modern assault weapons include motor vehicles, IEDs, and kitchenware, and quite a few others if you look elsewhere than the US.

And without guns sickos will come up with something else. Maybe something we have never seen. Maybe something worse.

You will NOT be dissapointed. That said, my last friend who came over and shot supressed ended up buying a couple of cans from Silenerco (buy one get one free or along those lines) and the wait time was like 18 months. The wait is well worth it though once you finally get it.

Funny thing, when I first shot it, it sounded real loud and was kind of disappointed because I thought it would be quieter. Couple months later had someone over shooting it and then it dawned on me it wasn't loud at all, just with your ear resting on the buttstock, what was making all the noise was the bolt moving LOL Kind of think quieter than a pellet gun with 30 rounds of not having to deal with compressed air.

Sad to say, sold the rifle long time ago:mad:

The real nice thing about shooting a .22LR pistol suppressed is the fact that even if you get supersonic .22LR, in a pistol length barrel, the rounds will still be subsonic, thus no sonic crack and pretty darn quiet.

Generally speaking, the one set up that generally puts a smile on everyone face is a supressed bolt .22LR with subsonic (still over 1000 FPS) ammo. People are generally suprised how loud shooting a 5.56 sounds.

That looks like great blueprint of what I was thinking.
