Im currently in the market to trade my bass boat for a 4x4 wheeler of equal value. I had a guy offer me an 2006 arctic cat 650 v twin and a yamaha vmax. I know abiut the vmax but i dont know much at all about the 650 vtwin fourwheelers. Looking for folks with experience with these machines. Like em? Hate em? ect... Ive only heard that they are sometimes hard to start in the cold or something??????

Check out arcticchat.com. The 650 Kawi Vtwin is a nice engine.

The Arctic Cat 650 V-twin is a very powerful, smooth running machine. Mine always started well in cold weather and warmed up quickly.
4 WD works very well and this unit has the larger tires which also helps.
Independent rear suspension makes for a smooth ride.

My only complaint is that it always felt stiff on the steering compared to other 4-wheelers I have owned. After a while riding, my arms got tired. This is one unit that could really use power steering.

Jd do you have a heated garage??

Garage - Yes, Heated - No.
Not many heated garages here in Texas.

Never had any problems on cold weather starts but I am sure it gets a lot colder where you are.

I have one I bought new in '04. I love it. The Kawasaki twin is an excellent motor and the suspension IMO is the best there is for off camber technical offroading. I have not been beat in the mud either, but I believe a lifted Can-am may outdo it in a bottomless bog pit. I've run 28" tires since day one and it spins them easily. Do yourself a favor and change the driven spring on the transmission to a stiffer one, red or yellow if you run anything larger than stock tires. Starts easily with the choke, the coldest I've tried is around 15f. EFI would be nice but I wouldn't trade mine!!

Artic Cat used the Kawaski V twin(650)..nice motor ,lots of power.Get in the habit of shutting off the gas after use. There had been some problems with the motors flooding when left sitting. Not good ..fills the crankcase with gas.

+1 for going to Arctic Chat and looking around there.

I for one am not a big fan of that machine USED.
If I were able to buy it new, maybe I would, but used they can be pricy to repair if they weren't takin care of.
2 of everything, but this is true for all v-twins.
Also this model is one of the ones with the frame cracking issue.
