Are Air Boats Considered Farm Implements?

Yep, that's a hovercraft. Attached is a typical airboat. Your thread caught my eye 'cause I wanted to know how an airboat got so far away from the swamps...don't worry about your senior moment, 'cause I wouldn't expect a Yankee to know what an airboat really is - after all, they both have props in the back! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Quite a few of my neighbors have them, but I don't have a lot of experience in one, myself, not being a hunter. My son-in-law has gotten real familiar with one just like in the picture, however, 'cause he has a side job a few weeks every year riding with a fresh water fish & game officer counting gators. They go out in the swamps at night, shine powerful lights, count the number of eyes that reflect back the light and divide by two. The results help determine how many gator huntin' permits are issued. Gators have made a real come back from being protected, and are now becoming a nuisance, again.

Don't know if I'd call either a hovercraft or an airboat a farm implement, but I guess those folks will take anything in trade...I've always wanted to run around in a hovercraft, Looks like fun.

Your "tour" of the dealer was lots of fun to see, and reminded me that there are still lots of places in the country that don't have to be locked up tighter than a drum with security guards posted. I loved the sign..."Don't start the equipment."

Good story. I felt I was walking right through the place with you.

I knew air boat was not what I was thinking the thing was, but I couldn't for the life of me think of the right term! I guess I was having one of those senior moment thingy's!

Didn't mean to be a know it all, just speculating. Hey! It runs on air, right? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Did they have a loading dock? I wonder if they used the boom to offload freight? Could the black asphalt have been undercoating? I get the general impression that these guys are thinkers and tinkerers - could be fun getting to know them

A quick Googley found Northern Illinois Tractor & Equipment - now I'm gonna go surf their site. Seems they have a reward posted for a moist, slightly sunburned fella with sticky hands last seen frolicking around their place of business, drooling and muttering to himself while taking pictures......./forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi Don! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Glad you liked the "tour". Yes, we are fortunate that we can still, for the most part, not have to worry too much about our security in this neck of the woods. Heck, people in my home town complain now that it takes 14 minutes to get across town instead of 11 like it used to! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I guess sometimes we tend to take for granted things like that.

And as far as not starting the equipment, I guess after reading the sign, the thought never crossed my mind to see if I could! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Gee, maybe I could've had a nice new Zetor! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hi Mark! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I didn't see a loading dock anywhere, but I didn't walk all the way around the building either. I would tend to think that the Farmall is used for something a little heftier than freight! Like maybe tractor engines. Who knows? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif whatever it's used for, I'd say it has the muscle to do it! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hmmm.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I wonder if they would have an extradition agreement with Wisconsin? I might have to don a disguise - Let's see......it'll need to be somebody who is without reproach, of outstanding character, and a man of unquestioned integrity........Hmmm......anybody got a picture of Muhammad?? No, no. That's not a good idea. We need Muhammad to keep TBN running. O.K. How about Bird? Yeah, that's it! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I just saw his picture posted in another thread. With a blue jumpsuit, a little less hair (won't take much work there! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif), and me losing about 20 pounds, I might just pass for Bird! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif They wouldn't come looking for me in Texas, would they? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

David,

Didn't think you were trying to being a know it all! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I'm glad you mentioned the right term. Like I said, I knew air boat wasn't right, but I just couldn't come up with the right label. It was driving me nuts! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You losing 20 pounds? I need to lose about 35. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Geesh, that means I'll need to lose 55 lbs.!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I think maybe I'll forget the disguise and let 'em catch me. It'll probably be easier!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Plus you need to sand that jaw a little. I'd start with 80, then go right to 220.

If the wife can't get me to "sand" it off for over 20 years, I don't think a little thing like trying to hide from an implement dealer will either! /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

You'd have better luck getting Bird to grow one! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
