Are augers interchangeable?

Kinda dumb, but I bent the shaft on my 9" auger. It's a Lienbach, and I was wondering if augers are essentially generic or am I basically tied to Lienbach for a replacement.

I am going to haul it down to a local fab shop and see if they can straighten it. That would be the least painful process.

In the event I have to buy a new one, I was just wondering if there were any options.

Don't ask how it got bent. Stupid is as stupid does and this one ranks right up there.

I would love to know that as well...I have the same brand PHD as you, and was thinking about getting a 9inch auger instead of the 12inch that I use. I can get new augers at TSC here in Ohio for about $114.00. Looking foward to the responses you get on this thread.

Years ago I was doing extensive fence work and my PHD was outfitted with several augers, none of which were the same brand. The only thing they had in common was the direction of rotation, and the attachment to the drive head.

I had a couple of different diameters, and a couple were outfitted with replaceable teeth for the glacial till soil we encounter here.

Yes, many brands will interchange, but, that said there are many that will not.

You just need your measurments, Dia of the hole, bolt size and bolt orientation and off you go to look.

Adapters are also made, and sometimes locally fabricated to go from one to another as well.

I sort of expected that would be the answer. First step is to try and see if we can at least partially straighten this one.

Looks like the easiest way is to cut off the bent section and weld a new extension on. Will probably have him add another six inches or so to the length. There is enough lift to do it and I've wanted a little more depth anyway.
