I am wondering if my differential lock is working correctly...Both rear wheels seem to turn in normal operation but only 1 front wheel, it does seem to lock the front ones..is that correct?...Or is one rear wheel and one front wheel turning in normal operation?

diff lock only locks the rear. sounds like it is working correctly.

When in 4x mode one front and one rear will spin (may have both front tires spin if traction is equal). When in 2x mode onle one rear will spin. When engauging differential lock, that makes both rear spin. Hope this helps.

OK here's what I'm trying to say.....Today I noticed when I was spinning that both rear wheels were spinning without stepping on the diff...Only 1 front was spinning...When I stepped on the diff I really didn't notice any difference..

The other day one wheel was in the air and one was spinning..I did slam on the diff with the wheels spinning but did not hear anything pop and I did manage to back out...Today I noticed that when I did step on the diff and one front wheel was slowly turning it seemed to engage the other one....Both rears kept turning..

Is it possible that something locked the rears together when I slammed it on..Otherwise everything seems to be working ok..I have 28 hours on the tractor...Gettin to know it's limitations...Hope I didn't hurt anything..

I'll be calling for my 50 hour service soon and then I'll find out for sure I guess..Maybe I'll talk to with the service manager tomorrow and pick his brain..

I remember the first time I used it I did feel the pedal go down slightly...Guess I need to get myself real stuck again and try to see what happens...

My rear diff disengages when I hit the brake.

You are probably OK. If you were not going too fast when you stepped on the diff lock with one wheel off of the ground it should not hurt anything. It is best to stop before engaging the diff lock but, as long as one wheel is not spinning wildly you should be OK. Also, having both rears spin at the same time without the diff lock is quite normal in very muddy conditions. Or, if you have a load on the bucket and the rear is light it is not unusual. Normally, when you are pulling something on uneven ground one wheel will spin first. That is when the diff lock is handy. The diff lock will have no effect on the front wheels. The reason that they spin together or alternately depends on traction at each wheel. The wheel that lose traction first will spin. That can change as you move along. Hope that helps.

I spose it's possible your diff lock is stuck engaged. I did that to my BX recently. Climb under and make sure the input shaft rotates both ways when you hit the pedal. Mine wouldn't budge and dealer had to get it unstuck.

makes turning fairly interesting, not real good for the tyres or drive line. loads them up a lot, that for sure. to find out if its stuck, put machine on level ground, put it in 2wd. make sure its in neutral and the brake is off. (chock the front wheels) now jack up one back wheel and try to turn it. if it turns your ok. if not then you have an issue.
