It looks like the Waltons are greedy when you just look at what they earn, but there are many factors involved.
First, they may make 36 billion dollars a year before taxes but you can imagine how much taxes they pay a year.
Second, they have over 2,300,000 employees. They just gave their employees a large raise but if they give them even $1 an hour more pay, the workers would still complain that they aren't making enough and it would cost the Waltons over $11,500,000,000 a year for that small pay increase and that is not even including what they have to pay in health benefits and unemployment taxes, social security taxes, etc. If they gave them a $2 an hour increase in wages it would make Walmart bankrupt and the workers would still complain they aren't getting enough.
They net less than $2000 a year for each employee they hire. How many of you make more than that annually off each employee you hire? Does this mean you are greedy too? I know lots of business owners that have 10 employees and make way more than $20,000 a year.
