The tractor was delivered three months ago to the day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on using the R4's in the snow. Tire choice is something I agonized over for weeks. Tires are expensive, so I wanted to be right the first time. I read posts here and on CTB. It seems like there is no agreement on which tire is the best. I read posts from people who claimed that turf, R1 and R4 were each the absolute best thing since sliced bread. I imagine everyone believes what they post, but that the types of soil and turf we encounter make a difference, as may inflation pressure. My R1's on the Ford worked OK on grass and very well in snow, and I almost went that way with the Kubota. Like I said, the tractor gets time on blacktop, and Ag tires seemed to wear kinda fast, especially the fronts. My dealer felt the R4's were better suited for loader work...................chim

just purchased my L3000DT with R4's b/c i will be mowing with this larger tractor in the future. . .i could not pass up the price to buy R4's when purchasing the tractor. . .(see my posting for the deal i got). anyway, i will have a tree nearby with a large set of "come-alongs" available if i try to do something stupid (like get stuck). . .i also feel the R4s will be more difficult to puncture when in unknown territories b/c of closeness of tread? ? ? just an opinion as i am awaiting the delivery of "BIG ORANGE". . .man, am i excited. . .i must move over to the "Projects" section of the forum now and learn from all you experts on how to use my new toy (i mean tractor. . .oops!)

I think I would get the R4's and then if I had problems in mud or snow, get some tire chains like log skidders use.

i am shopping in southeast louisiana in the hammond area what kinda deal did ya get on your machine i am having mine delivered on friday the 12 ohhh boy what a weekend it will be i may get 20 yds of sand delivered just to play like i did when i was a kid with the tonka toys

you really don't give us many specifics on wht your ground conditions are, will u be moving snow(if so how much) but to asn. as best i can , i have r4 on my b2400, move a lot of snow and do a lot of fel work. they are just fine for me. there are times i wish i had ags, but then times i wish i had turffs, point being, get the thread design that is best for u most of the time. nothing will be what u want 100% of the time.

I have R-1's on both my tractors. I use my Ferguson T0-20 to mow several acres of lawn (as well as many other functions), and I often drive across my lawn on my Oliver 1550 (sometimes with a loader full of manure, soil or even rocks). The Oliver is quite a bit larger than a CUT. Neither damage the lawn, unless it is so soaked that it is practically mud, and even then, the lawn bounces back in a day. Unless you're using a tractor for strictly lawn mowing, I think your best bet is always R-1's.
