Are the classifieds legitimate?

I have viewed and sent emails to several advertisers and haven't received any responses. Has anyone actually been successful buying a tractor through this forum /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif How often do sellers leave adds open after a sale? Should I stick with it or am I wasting my time?

I sold my John Deere 955 and several implements just a year ago from an ad I placed on this forum. The buyer was in Maine and I live in Illinois. He arranged for all of the shipping.

I was very pleased. By the way, I cancelled my ad as soon as it sold.

Thanks Jack, You seem to be the exception. I recently saw a Kubota advertised here and on e-bay for a low price. I made a false listing enquiry to e-bay and sure enough it was removed that day! They have since removed several more which I pointed out. SO Beware - there is a trend of using Tractor adds to scam e-mail address. Like Phishing.

Escrow scams are very common online, and we do what we can to remove all ads that are suspected of being escrow scams. Usually if a deal sounds too good to be true, it is.

As for the classifieds being legitimate... well, of course they are. But we have no control over how quickly sellers respond to ads. Also, sometimes an item will sell and the seller will forget to take the listing down. Then, it has to expire and get automatically removed by our system in 2-3 months.

The TBN classifieds have been a great source for me to sell some attachments & equipment I no longer needed. I have had people come from several states away & pick up items from me. So, for me & the people I've sold to..........They work & work well...............sometimes it takes awhile to sell an item, but the listings DO work..........Tom
