So, topkicker, or anybody else, what % should a good dealer discount off of list on one of these shiny things?

I own a Gator XUV 855D w power steering, power dump, deluxe ROP's and glass doors. It doesn't feel under powered by any means although it's top speed is limited to 33 mph. It has good low end power and sips diesel. I checked the tank when I first got it several times to make sure the gauge was giving the correct reading. The most load I put on the machine is pulling a 66in finish mower and it handles that with ease. The amazing part to me is the quality of ride. It eats up ruts, hills, and rough terrain like a Caddilac DeVille doin 60mph on a gravel road.. Just floats along. The cab is loud w the doors on but open cab is no more loud than my friend's Polaris RZR. Been a solid workhorse for us and offers a great off road suspension set up for trail riding. Feel like we got the best of both worlds.
I have the same XUV, but without the enclosed cab. I agree with everything you stated about the 855D. And the traction is unbelievable even without engaging the 4WD. The only complaint, and it's not really a complaint just a wish, I wish it wasn't quite so loud. But then again it's a diesel.

I pulled the trigger on a well apportioned 865r. I know I'm crazy for spending that much on such a machine, but I just hope that I'm not doubly crazy for getting a diesel.
I did test drive the diesel, and it doesn't seem under powered at all, just slower than the gasser. I found that the diesel was more pleasant to drive because the engine wasn't screaming and revving just to get moving. The gasser reminded me of a snowmobile
There were some very steep hills at the dealership that I climbed in Hi range with the AC on, and the diesel ate it up...granted no load in the box, and not towing anything.
The cab was very quiet...not like a car, but more like a nice tractor cab. I didn't have any trouble carrying on a conversation.
It seems from my research that the people who own the diesel gators really like them, and the people who have gas ones really like them too; I guess that's the way it should be!
I would have liked to see about a 30ish HP yanmar in the diesel gator, but the EPA kinda screwed that up.

The tool holders mounted on the bed rails...are they options from Deere, or aftermarket?

I also have an 855D...no cab, but I did install an aftermarket windshield and will be adding a windshield wiper. I've plowed snow and carried a few hundred pounds in the bed. No issues whatsoever...plenty of low end torque considering the limited cubic inches of the engine. About the only other thing I wish I had was the power dump....pretty expensive if you buy it, even if you install it yourself.

I priced an 865...like the change in the gear shift levers and the added under seat storage...but boy! Are they salty!! The one I priced had very few options (no winch, windshield as examples) but over $20 grand! I can't justify that, personally

Getting back to the topic...unless you want to cruise at 45 MPH, the diesels are every bit as capable as the gas versions

Very salty indeed...but oh so sweet at the same time. :drink:
I pretty well got it fully pimped out.
I will forget about the price soon enough ( I hope)
