Are there any refrigerator companies that make a reliable fridge anymore ??

We purchased a GE Refrigerator (French door model) in July 2018 yesterday it took a crap.No cooling to the fridge area but ok to the freezer area.Called local repair shops told they do not work on GE app.anymore since the parts are hard to get.Dealer stated GE sold out to china about 3 years ago.My local dealer gave me some tips over the phone what to check for but that did not fix my problem.From my research most fridge manufactures offer a 1 year warranty.

All the main-stream big box store appliances are cr@p. You have to go to the high end custom stuff to get anything that will last, which most people can't afford. Most of that stuff is $10K and up.

There should be an 800 number in your owners manual to contact GE direct for factory authorized repair center. In SW Michigan, it will probably be Diamond Repair.

We had an out of warranty repair done by them on another brand washing machine and I thought the cost was reasonable.

.From my research most fridge manufactures offer a 1 year warranty.

This is one time where an extended warranty paid off for me. Long story and won't go into detail, but I had trouble with one fridge (Frigidaire) after only a few years. When I replaced it with a Whirlpool, I opted for the extended warranty which I don't usually do. Well, sure enough the Whirpool acted up also. After about 4 service calls, the warranty company paid off for a replacement. They gave me a check for a percentage of a new unit and the check turned out to be more than what I initially paid. Weird thing is that the last service call seems to have taken care of it and it's been working for the last several years. So I got the check and the machine still working.

It's dying again as I posted in another thread a while back, so it will need to be replaced, but I'm hoping to get through this year before it dies.

Funny you mention that wife and I were shopping today for the new fridge and the sales girl started to show us $10,000 dollar sub-zero refrigerators I new immediately were in the wrong section of the sales aisle.

This where consumer reports comes in handy. I’d also be suspicious of one repair tech dictating your course of action. Hopefully the GE tech can get you up and running. No frig sucks and it’s amazing how much food is packed into one. We ended up spending several hundred bucks replacing the contents in ours. Fingers crossed for a quick fix.

I did contact GE they told me sorry NO techs in my 49249 zip code.We are moving on for the next nightmare fridge purchase.
