The JD 4400 is a Yanmar tractor, made in Japan. I guess everything made overseas isn't great.

Not so, the engine is Yanmar, the rest is Deere and was made in Augusta, GA.

Maybe the mixing of Japanese and American is what causes the trouble. I have a JD 4120 that was assembled in that GA plant but it has the American-made (some say Mexico, but that is still part of North America, hense no matter how you shake it it remains American-made) JD Powertech engine. It has been completely trouble-free over the 5 years I have owned it. Certainly it has some global components including a Canadian (still American) 400X loader. I was quite surprized to be able to purchase this machine (5) years ago for equal or less money than similar but slightly underspec'd models from Kubota or NH (GL4330, T?40). American made, higher performance, equal or less money, and trouble free service was a deal I am thankfull I did not pass up. Maybe it cant be said for all sizes, but anyone would have a tough time convicing me that American's cant build them as well as anyone else in the 40-45 hp range.

John Deere's new 10 series tractors will have John Deere engines in them. So does that make it an all American SCUT? I hope so. That makes me think though, how many implement manufacturers are in the USA? I know Koyker is US and i think some of the attachments at Everything Attachments also are US made.:)

Ask yourself this question and pretend you own a tractor building company, here are you choices.

1 - Have your product made my a foreign company and pay the employees $2.00 a DAY for 10 hours of work, or..............

2- Have your product made by American Union workers at $750.00 a day plus benefits, taxes, regulation up the wazoo, health and safety, workers comp, labor standards, harassment laws, labor law suits, forced health care, environmental laws and rules, air quality regulation, water regulations, insurance, power regulations, cap and trade, strikes, government inspections, fees, fees, fees, fees, and more fees..............what would you do?

See it's a simple decision isn't it. Now you know why nothing is made in the United States any more.

$750 a day. I'd like to know what union worker gets that kind of pay. You must be talking about management who ships work over seas to maximize profits to pad their pckets or make rich investors richer and undermine our local economies.

- Heck the finest shotguns in the world are made in Italy, our boys over seas carry Berretta pistols and Bennelli shotguns to protect our freedom. Sure would not want one of them to have a jammed gun just because it was made in America!

After a year of flawless production and testing of M9 pistols in Italy under U.S. Government supervision, testing and later production was transferred to the Beretta U.S.A. factory in Accokeek, Maryland.

I believe all M9 pistols that are fielded today by the US Military are US made

I believe Bennelli combat shotguns are made in Italy

But the primary weapon the rifle appears to be made in the USA

As of September of 2010 the Army has announced they will buy 12,000 M4A1s from Colt Firearms by the end of 2010 and will by early 2011 order 25,000 more M4A1s. The Army announced also to have open competition for newly designed M4 bolt carrier and gas piston operation system, which will be fitted to the newly bought M4A1 carbines. the army plans to buy 12,000 of these conversion kits in early 2011. In late 2011 the Army plans to buy 65,000 more conversion kits. From there the Army will decide if it will upgrade all of its M4s.[9]

The ammo is loaded here also, most at Lake city arsenal.

Guys we are not done for yet, if we still have guns and ammo:thumbsup:
lets see Lockheed Martin, McDonald Douglas, Boeing? humm might have a few airplanes and missles too:) That said I have a Springfield Armory, made in Brazil, and some Austrian tupperware too (Glock) but also have some nice firearms that are designed/manufactured/supported in the good ole USA

koua,
don't want to turn this into a gun debate, but M9 was taken over by our american made 1911a which was 100% truely an american made gun:mad: The M9 is a foreign design... Now the m4, which I own and love is truely a fine weapon and will be carryed for many years to come. AND is our design and still built here:thumbsup: Simple put- our Military went aboard to find what was best for our boys to have.. That is what I did when bought a tractor.. Shows us that times are changing and the 870 Rem, and the Colt .45 where put to rest by foreign designs:confused2: Just can't see why the Kimber design was less superior to the M9- only in capacity in my mind:)

We are no longer a manufacturing economy, we have evolved past this segment of our history. People want and expect higher wadges than these jobs can pay and still have a competitive product, enter stage right GM. We as consumers could not afforord anything if it was made here. Manufacturing economies is done in developing nations that have yet to build a highly developed service/tecnology economy like ours. Yes you still have to have folks do the dirty work, think garbage other type jobs, but here they pay more than in india or China. Regulation like others have mentionied is the reason why China has a high tech economy and still manufacturing based economy, lighter pollution and labor restrictions, as well as copy right laws that mean nothing there.

Get used to our system its here to stay. I personally could not afford all american made stuff. I would have almost no tools, and just the household things i buy at walmart i could almost have very few of it if i had to only buy american made.

The SAW is a FN and the main gun on the Abrams is German design.

Some Special Forces units have been required to turn in their preferred HK 416 and the M4 order was made even though the HK416 has proven to be a superior weapon.

I also own a Colt AR variant and like it, but my life doesn't depend on it.
