Are we OK with how bright headlights are getting?

The issue with aftermarket LED bulbs in headlight assemblies designed for Halogen bulbs is, the reflector pattern in the assembly itself isn't designed for LED's, so, the emitted light pattern would be ideal and a halogen reflector will cause a lot of stray light to be emitted. Couple that with cheap LED capsules and you have a light ;mess; that can blind oncoming drivers even when your low beams are energized. I tried a set of them in my F350 (see Haydude I got it right this time....lol) and they were horrible. Headlight assemblies designed for halogen bulbs, don't work well with LED capsules. They do work better with high pressure sodium capsules but they require a ballast to work and are more expensive to purchase.

Then we have the wacko colored LED capsules in blue, green, yellow and who knows what else for the 'kool' look...

Another issue I have with these focused beam LED's on oncoming vehicles is, when they go over bumps in the road, I think they are flashing me. I then flash mine to let them know I have the low beams on. This starts the "flash war" until we pass each other

I have learned to expect that so ignore them... after checking to ensure that my lights are indeed on low beam.

And the good ol' days when low beam was 2 lights and high was 4??

On my side, illegal use of high beams is subject to a fine of 200 yuan and a deduction of one driver's license point
But most people think that the punishment is too low
Nowadays, there are more and more cars on the road, and the quality of drivers is also uneven, and many people expect higher penalties to "improve" the quality of some drivers

Some of these new LED's cost $100 or more and that's just the bulbs! The labor can also get pricey, especially when you have to dismantle half the front end to replace them!

Especially Stellantis (RAM) pickup trucks. You have to do some serious dismantling of the front end to replace the bulbs and that includes removing the inner fender wells too. My wife's Suburban is marginally better, You have to remove the front grill to access the headlights to replace the bulbs bit I don't see that happening often because she has LED projector lamps and actually every light is LED, even the instrument panel lights.

and the some like a Toyota Corolla can be changed with no tools…

Was away from home and stopped for dinner and after noticed a light out and auto parts store across the street… paid a few dollars walked back and changed the bulb and headed for home…
