While I sincerely appreciate your attempt to inject some humor into the thread, are you saying you are a PRO at the hobby, and willing to share your best tips with us?

Maybe, by chance you use binoculars for a close up ogle?

Possibly, you can inform us here what your favorite leering style might be?

Or, perhaps the best time of day to sit on a park bench and admire the passerby?

Perhaps you could reveal a hint of your best apology when you are caught staring too long?

And most importantly, what do you tell the Mrs. when she catches you indulging in your hobby?

AH the fun of a Hobby. My problem is turning a hobby into a business. Then its not as much fun.

Since about 1957 /58 I have played with toy airplanes. (Boy does that statement pee off the hard core modeler.) Both "U" control and Radio Control, even a little free flight thrown in. If it flies I like it, real or toy. built 100 models give or take a couple. Taught a lot of folks how to fly RC, even built planes for some of them.

Did some reloading for a few years. At one time Sierra Bullets would send you a wall hanger with every bullet they made if you would send them a target 10 shot with a minuet of angle. You didn't even have to prove how you did it. I kept trying but never could get all 10. Maybe I should have cheated?? Made a couple of little cannons that used 4F black powder to make loud noise.

A girl friend was reading an adult school course book. Came to a jewelry class and said I should sign up for it. Not too long after that I was in the jewelry business and they started my own jewelry school. That lasted over 30 years.

Now I'm into building things. Stoves ) 5 & Counting) , wood racks, a smoker a roller, sheep's foot, gates, decks, rock walls, built a little red wagon to bring the wood in for my stove.

Did I mention some wood working, wood & metal lathe. inventing a few things, running injection molds, doing some drafting ( not computer all by hand.) Even got on patent and had a couple of other things close.

Raced motor cycles for a few years. Loved to race the desert, some motocross and a little "TT"

No wonder I am so tired. Most of this was after working all day, usually 50 to 70 hours a week.:D

Not sure if I made it clear enough in the thread starter, BUT:

Are any of the members here INTERESTED in having a forum devoted to the discussion of hobbies? So far, it appears there is very little, but I thought I would find out.

:) I thank you for the tip, I will update my eye glass prescription and you are right we men are plagued with this hobby...it just comes natural, a blessing and a curse..

First tip...When the Mrs. goes shopping at the mall take up residence on the bench and sit and smile, have something to read , although it is merely a prop you are really looking up frequently.

If ever caught you simply tell the gal you thought she had a spider or some bug on her and offer to inspect more closely

If your Mrs. catches you...repeat above...and ask her if she saw the spider that was crawling on that gal...and then remark how unfortunate it is that the gal is so ugly and not near as pretty as your wife...

JD, I hope that helps should you endeavor to become accomplished at my hobby...:D

Brin, my good man....it saddens me to inform you of this, but the very beginning of your advice clearly marks you as a rank novice at girl watching. Absolutely the MOST important thing to do is NOT take your Mrs. anyplace. My wife and I shop every week, but almost NEVER TOGETHER. May I suggest you reread the thread I started here: "Shopping with the wife---fun or frustrating?" for great tips and advice from the guys here.

Picture #2 looks like one of the Kaos series. Had several of them, all flew great.

The MATS plane reminds me that on the way overseas in 1958, going through Kadgalene (spelling sucks.) One had landed with 2 engines out on 1 side. Run way is fairly short with water at each end.

You will really enjoy your Dirty Birdy had one & loved it. Pictures are some of my toys, past & present
