GOOD AFTERNOON
Fineally after months of waiting,i got to hook up my salsco 600.The backhoe was a breeze to take off, cant believe i thought id struggle with it.Hooking up the 3 point hitch was another story[considering i never have been around one]but i figured it out after a fashion.
after taking it out in the driveway,i set the salsco down, wound up bota, andstarted it up. I thought from the way people talked the kubota would die down a bit on start up,but i tell you this was not the case.I cant believe how quiet this machine purrs,it is also vibration free.salso does a great job balancing their fly wheels-what a quality machine.
ok,enough of this drive way stuff i gotta test this badboy.i got an old brush pile, ill drive bota down there and give her a whirl...oopps its starting to rain..gotta hurry.I start up the salsco..go to get off, ooops the tractor starts to die,i musta left it in gear....nope.HUH?i guess bota has a safety feature,if you leave the seat when the pto is engaged the rig will die....how to fix...i unplugged the switch....nope,must be a circuit that has to remain open.Lets see now,ill make up a jumper wire....wait better idea...cram cedar shingle between switch and seat-works great.
ok,so i fire her up,put the first small limb in there....gone..and a couple seconds.chips blow down right beside machine[this is great,i can park my dump cart right beside her].
all right lets see what this thing can take...3 inch maple limb at least 14-16 ft long.....when it was done chipping i just stood there with my mouth open. it took about 5 seconds to gooble this thing and spit it out.never even changed the tone of bota.it started to rain,i promise to post some pics before the weekends out, keep checking this thread.
i can see the salso was MORE than i exspected.one man could never feed it fast enough. This is no pull behind lawn chipper..the top loading part,is a great design,-drop it in,walk away.[alot safer too]trees like beech, with lots of limb shoots, will have to be pruned up to get them in that 4 inch opening, but most with limber branchs will bend and can be fed with no problem.the hopper is large enough,so if they catch they are right at the chipper throat, the next piece puts her right through.cant wait to get her to those brush piles in my woodlot, its going to make short work of them.this chipper is sawmill quality.
i posted a picture of it a couple months back, its going to have to keep you content until, the rain stops, dont want bota to catch cold

Escavader,

I believe there is a procedure in your manual on how to run the PTO while off the machine. I think it is get off with PTO disenganged and motor running. Then tip seat forward then start PTO, but I may be wrong as I don't have a one. Just going from memory on some post I once read.

In any event it sounds like you have a real nice piece of equipment there well two I guess with the Bota /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looking forward to the pics.

This is why you had some problems with your PTO... you have to turn the seat.

I'm looking forward to see those pics. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wow... nice rig as I said when you brought it home.

I'm looking forward to see a pic of that baby in action.

Rain, rain, rain... all day today.

It looks right at its place behind your BX. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have fun /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
