Ashpalt Scratching Solution? Help!

/ Ashpalt Scratching Solution? Help! #11
Last year I used my FEL and Box Blade to clear the driveway. One thing is to never let the BB touch the ashpalt (just use it for weight). The FEL works well but you need to fine tune your skills. I like to relax a little but if your not carefull you can have some problems. The float is not a good option because the bucket fills with snow and pushes the bucket down into the driveway. Adding a strip to my cutting edge would help alot and give me a little room to relax. Let us know how you make out. Replacing a strip every few storms would not be a big deal.

Nuru-

Check out this other current post for rubber blade ideas and sources on eBay

Thanks that was a good read. I ordered a rubber blade and it should show up next week. It is 1.5" thick x 72" x 10", and I am gonna drill holes in it and mount my original blade jon top, just like the thread suggested. i was planning on using an over hang of 2 inches, but it seems that 1 inch might work? Based on that thread.

That is one reason i bought the strip at 10" in height, so I can drill more holes in it as required as the blade wears down.

I know what you mean about the loader, i use the Frontier bioom blade mounted on my loader aarms and that does take some getting used to as ti is so long and if you are not careful the back of the boom will hit and drag along the ground.

Helped out a few of the people on my road today. The storm we got was ice and snow. The snowblowers did not want to do anything with it. So I used my FEL to clear a few driveways. I did one across the street and I would bet I took a big chunk out of his driveway. After looking I did not but I was a little upset about it. My big problem is in the swale of our driveways. I have to take my time in this area.

The swale is the main reason I would like some strip. Looked at a blade for this year but the FEL does the job for me. Plus all the kids like when I pile up the snow for them.

I have both, but was too chicken to use my loader to move snow sofar, but if we get a lot, I will just switch them back and forth.
