The ASV has developed a pretty good leak coming from the valve block but I can't tell where it's coming from. Any ideas or tricks to find the leak? What's the best way to start looking?

Where do I find a wrench to check the pipes for tightness? It's too tight for a regular wrenchg...

My tracks are about shot...major chunks coming off now...850 hours.

"valve block" being in the front right upper corner in the engine compartment?
You can't have someone look at it when you start up the ASV?

Wish I could be more help. Bring it down and I'll help you fix it.

I did that, I couldn't see any visible leak. Before I power washed it today it seemed like fluid/dust build up was covering the whole block.

Do the o-rings just wear out and need replacing after some time? Especially when you turn up the pressure.

Just for thought I have been working on a steep hill & had it come out the res. cap. I don't know if this is where yours is comming from but that is mine, I have about 800 hrs. on mine & no leaks on the valve body yet anyway!!

One bad leak I had was the bolts that hold the Hyd. pump together sheared off & let the pump split, & all hyd. oil drained, 2 days working on it & I fixed it so far. I just got my head balanced the other day & what a change, the magnum runs smooth now!

Yes, it could be just an O-ring that needs replacing. That happened to me once on my high flow line. Amazing how the whole operation was shut down for a $.50 O-ring.

If hoses are involved, most likely hose connector threads are stretched.

With turned up pressure and the load of the mulcher it could blow an O-ring out for sure. And I've been shut down too for a $.25 o-ring. Good luck

I have had one or two leaks in the valve area also. One was just an O ring. and the other was a bad hard line not sealing corectly and cutting the o ring. Both were repaired under warranty. and both occured before the "turn up" nothing since.
That is a bad area to try and work on though. Almost NO room to move a wrench. Let us know what you find.

Last year I had two different "o" ring leaks. I think the most popular opinion is they show up with heating and cooling cycles in new machines. The biggest one I had was in the high flow rigid line up against the rear of the engine compartment. My dealer was good about sending somone to my shop (about 75 miles) to do the repair. I had already dissassembled everything and in about three hours it was all back together at no charge. I made some large "tubing" wrenches out of some old P&K box wrenches which were made pretty stout. A very short light duty one is helpful for most of the turning and a bigger one for tightening.

So far no problems this year except my battery is about to be replaced. Not sure if it is still under warrantee.

I did find that leak last month. I purchase some ultra violet dye for the hyd oil and could see the leak. The valve block was not leaking, over time it would just build up oil and dirt. The leak was from the underside of the hydraullic tank. It had cracked between two of the hose mounts. It took half a day to get out and get tig welded, then another 6 hours to put it all back together the next day...not that fun.

1020 hours....still have not changed the tracks, they are going to fall off before I spend the 6,000 bucks to replace them.

It sounds like you might have a pinched O-ring on one of your drive motor hoses. I had a leak that sounds similar to you on my RC50 and there ended up being a small "nick" in the O-ring.

iF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE VALVE BLOCK BELOW THE HYD. OIL FILLER. tHE ARE THREE NUTS ON TOP OF THIS BLOCK. IF THIS O-RING UNDER THIS CAP GOES BAD OR NUTS GET LOOSE IT BLOWS OIL EVERYWHERE.
