Why you gettin rid of it? Tryin to get some suggestions, need something compact, but powerful for heavyduty brush cutin/forestry mulching. Good cooling system for the engine an hydraulic Fluids to prevent overheating. I bout got it narrowed down to ASV PT 100 or Rayco c100/ Fecon ftx 100.

The asv is by far the most productive little machine

The FTX-100 or C100 will run rings around the ASVs. I took an FTX-90 out to NM and it did a great job. The new ones have even more power and more cooling. If you plan to be a brush mulcher then get a machine that is designed to mulch. I would not hesitate a bit to get the FTX-100 if I were looking at smaller scale jobs that required regular moving. I have had no problems moving the FTX-140 around and the 100 machines are even smaller. Had to use some tires to cross golf cart paths once but that was no problem considering how much more productive purpose built machines are.

Only thing wrong with the 140 is no loader arms, i do a lot of mulching but there are times when i need a bucket grapple ,forks. An i already have head so i just need a carrier, i think the ftx-100 or the c100 would be just bout unstopable with my cimaf head. Wat you think, i'm ready to get rid of this cat big peice of ^*^*!

If you do not need a head and you want to mulch I would have the FTX-100 by dark tonight. It is an awesome little mulcher. I took my FTX-140 and an FTX-90 and cleared 100 acres in 12 days and the 140 was down for three with a broken tool carrier. Knowing how good the 90 cuts and the 100 having several upgrades over the 90 I can not imagine how it will run with the Cimaf head. The pressure and flow are turned up quite a bit on the FTX 100 so you may have to make some changes but I am sure Robbie will have you set up in less than a day. My opinion is do it and do it now. We are all running out of time to buy because inflation is starting to run out of control and these machines are going to start getting even more expensive to buy and run.

i guess if you use a fecon or magnum head but step up to a gyro or cimaf then there is no comparison

I read in an earlier post that you wish you can find a tooth that would last. I have found teeth that will last and they are carbide. I work in heavy heavy rock for 10 or 11 hours a day and my teeth still last 500 hours. The planer teeth are a very big advantage on the small horsepower machines but as the power goes up the frail teeth become a bigger and bigger liability. A set if planer teeth would not make it until lunch where I work. I have tried just about everything on the market and I will only run a carbide cutter tooth. Not to mention that the specs on all of my jobs require a shredded product and not a chip. The uniform product that planer or chipper teeth leave lays down and forms a blanket that suffocates the soil preventing the grass from growing through.

Thanks for the information, Hopefully in a couple months i'll have the fecon ftx-100. Been cuttin now for a little over a year, its been pretty good but last couple of month have been slow. Last week i stayed busy had a job everday. Don't know if it is a good time to take on another note. But when i get the chance i'm gettin rid of the 297c. Don't get me wrong Cat makes a good dirt moving machine, but there forestry package they put on these things are a joke. An need to work on the cooling system for forestry work.
A friend of mine told me once," a skidsteer is a jack of all trades master of none". I beleive that know. Thanks for the help just thought i'd get some advice from so guys that have been running these machinr longer than me.
If anyone has anymore sugguestions on any other machines i'll glad that them under consideration.
