I've completed the blocking needed by the back porch decking. Some of the pressure treated boards were so twisted I had to use c-clamps to hold the new boards/joists in place to keep them from pulling the nails out of the opposite end of the board. Once the small blocking pieces were in place I was able to remove the c-clamps. After carrying my tools piece-by-piece from the garage and doing the same when putting them away, I decided to leave all the tools in the wheelbarrow. Now all my tools are easily brought out from the garage and easily put back in the garage afterward which is saving valuable minutes each evening.

hope u used screws from each side!

Im more lazy than that, i would of left tools in wheel barrow and got a tarp to cover it there in yard.

I'd guess carpenter bees. My son wasted half a can of wasp spray the other day trying to get one carpenter bee, I told him to get the tennis racket...

Yes, carpenter bees! Last night I killed 5 bees with the tennis racquet while working on the porch. The bees have made a mess of some of the pressure treated wood on the back porch. Next Spring I'm assuming I'll spend more time on the finished porch and will do battle with the bees before they eat as much wood.

A badminton racquet would work better than a tennis racquet even though the tennis racquet does pretty well. I'll keep my eyes open to see if I can pick one up cheap.

My wife found a router on craigslist. She routed all the corners on our 4x4 posts. She also sanded them. I have been installing them.

My wife has been looking for a dining room table on craigslist for almost a year. This week she finally found one. It will seat 8 people when all the leafs are in the table. The two arm chairs are not shown in the picture. We are very pleased with this set. She paid $740 for it.

I wanted a table that would comfortably seat at least 8 people. I wanted a table with legs on the corners of the table, not pedestal legs. That way I can sit at the end of the table and have plenty of room for my feet. We also wanted chairs with backs that do not lean back too far. Many of of the newer chairs lean farther back than we prefer.

It has taken a long time to find a used set that met all those requirements but it has been worth the wait.

We have some places around our back porch where the rim joists are only being held in place by nails with no support beneath the boards. Now that we are adding weight to the floor framing, I have started to shore up the rim joists. In the picture you can see where I tapped shims under the rim joists to they are supported by the post notch instead of just by the nails.
