You can get a funnel with a hose for quite a bit less than $45. But I bet there are other perks with the higher costing model besides oil cap placement.

that was my thoughts. Or you can put a screw driver in the hole and pour the oil down the shaft. Most of it runs in the mower this way. But looking at that shop/basement it doesnt look like he wants to much oil mess there or anywhere!!

I have several commercial mowers. They are well worth their money. If I got another mower it would be diesel powered. I have some diesel mowers already, and they are way better than gas. I have always wanted a front deck grasshopper, but I have never used one. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/files/projects/422707-home-woods-image-1519807412-jpg"/>

I know a guy that had one brought out for a demo. He loved it on flat ground but said he wouldn't buy it because he couldn't hold it on a hill. The deck weight just drug him down hill. Especially when having to go around a tree or light pole. I stopped as he was pulling it off a light pole on a small bank.

I went to Menards and Lowes today after ant killer. Both had it near the mowers. Menards has about a dozen by 3 manufacturers, none had a throttle and half had the same stupid oil fill location. I looked under about half and none had a drain like my Craftsman does.

So it takes you an Hour and a half with the riding Kubota which is probably around 42" cut at least and then you mowed the same area in the same amount of time with a 22-24" PUSH MOWER!! man you must of been running wide open and running with that mower and must go really slow on the rider?:confused3:
I did not mow the garden area in that 1 1/2 hour. I mowed the garden area this weekend with the push mower; that was another 45 minutes or so. But I was moving with the push mower walking as fast as I could.

There should still be a plug i would think under the deck to undo to drain the oil?
Nope. The manual said to turn the machine upside down.

I bought this TroyBilt push mower from the Box store for $255 + tax.

It has a Honda engine with a real oil cap. It also has a valve between the gas tank and the carburetor. I think I'll be able to close the valve and run the engine until all the gas in the carburetor is burned up. That feature sold me on the mower.

Well said Larro. However, I just could not bring myself to keep that mower and in consequence reward the manufacturer for such a consumer unfriendly product.

Find the local guy who fixes them out of his garage and has them lined up by the road, and pay him the $25-50 bucks he wants for the older serviceable style all tuned up and ready to go?

Seems like the new mowers and the fixed up older mowers all last me about the same amount of time, so I haven't bought a new machine in 15 years...

If you have a push mower with a deck you like, there's a bunch of small engine guys online that will sell new overstock and "pulls" for reasonable money, too.

The last two engines I have bought came on a pressure washer and push mower. They both have to be turned upside down to drain the oil. The mower was a return from Lowe's so I didn't have the manual, and I'd had the washer for a couple three years before I used it, so the manual for it was lost too. I spent longer on You Tube looking for the drain plug than it took to change the oil once I got it figured out.
