eng I think that will be a bit overkill for him, but I will let him decide that for himself.

I hope you got the one with the paddle switch. They are much easier and safer to use than the slide switches.

Dont get frustrated when you cant weld your receiver on as easy as it looks on Youtube, it will take some time, you will have to learn the speed you need the wire to come out at the correct setting on that machine (hi/low) and how fast to move the torch. You will be able to weld though. I have fixed my light duty bushhog several times where i have folded up the rear support, torn the deck out, fixed my lawn mower more than 3x, fixed fenders on trailers (i will never attemp to weld the touge or anything that is load bearing on the trailer). There shipping you cant beat it as well. You will find all kinds of stuff that you can weld in future things that you will never have thought of till you have it and you will be glad you spent the money. The helmet is the deal, i welded for years with the cheap face shield that only left one had free. Then i got goggles and gave my self quite the sunburn from helping a buddy weld up his dock. I had big goggle marks on my face and a burn nose and cheeks. But i did help him weld the supports back up on his dock where a winter storm tore it all apart. And yes i have the same welder as you.

And yes that is the one with the switch not the paddle.

Obed

Obed, you are entirely welcome!

As I said, book mark that site because it always seems to have that coupon available, as well as some others.

Getting on their email list (which you probably already did by placing your order) is also pretty lucrative because the discounts are bigger and rotate often. The backs of driving and home repair magazines is another high %off coupon source, I borrow the page out of any I find in my doctor's waiting rooms among other sources.

I'm just sorry that's all you could get off....

Thomas

PS: As others have said I keep my eyes on their sale flyers and plan ahead whenever I can for higher priced equipment for upcoming projects.

I think dstig was referring to the grinders I posted, but by the price Obed paid, I think he got the switched one, which I have had several of, and tend to beat into the ground. They do take a licking etc.

Hopefully we helped Obed fix something himself rather than overpaying someone else to.

Whatever you do Obed, be careful!

Btw, the welding helmet you ordered is the one I bought, and it has a setting for grinding (basically the off setting) and it provides way better protection than goggles. But by all means, wear ear and eye protection!!!!

I spend way too much time picking slag and metal shards out of people's eyes at work.

I've had an interest in learning to weld for a while now. A couple years ago I tried to find a local welding course. All I could find were full year welding schools meant for people wanting to enter the trade. It didn't occur to me to watch YouTube then. I'm trying to figure out where to find some scrap metal on which I can practice once the welder arrives.
