Well, his point should be well taken. New Holland is a great tractor and you should enjoy it for many years. They are very durable and hopefully, you won't require much service on it. If you do, 40 miles is not so far.

Be advised that all 3 locations of Tarheel Tractor & Equiptment in western NC are now closed. This is the Lenoir, Conover & Deep Gap dealers. I called about getting some warranty work done and was promptly told that they were no longer a New Holland dealer and hasta la vista! Now the closest dealer is 40 miles away in Wilkesboro, NC. Just my luck. I buy a brand new TC34DA, 14la FEL and 758C BH 1 yr. ago and now the dealer goes belly up. I should have listened to my friends advice and bought a Kubota! Their local dealer will probably never go under!

I hate to diasgree, but we all knew that dealers like Tarheel sold for prices so low that they couldn't keep it up. There business model hurt other legit dealers. One of the reasons I've always advocated buying from your local fair priced dealer was so that they would be around when you need them. That being said, I 'm sorry for you troubles, but 40 miles isn't very far.

When I bought it new 13 months ago the hydrostatic transmission was full of water and I just discovered it when I did my 50 hr maintence procedures. It sat outside on the dealer lot around 18 months before I bought it and either rainwater got in it somehow or there musta been a lot of condensation from heating and cooling. Anyway, the factory man basically told me it was my problem, not theirs.

Dave

When you say 'full' what does that mean?

Know nothing about Tarheel Tractor but the local NH dealership is also slow but they are/were a large commercial dealership also. The commercial JD dealership who had a few locations sold or would so I understand. If the construction industry says flat much longer you will see what you thought were some very strong dealerships joining the closed or sold ranks.

Last spring I purchased filters for my 1720 from Tarheel in Conover and the counter attendant stated that they were closing but would re-open under new ownership. I thought that was kind of iffy at best but evidently that could be happening now. I know that NH wants a presence in the Conover / Hickory area. They were wanting a much more visible location for their dealership due to Corriher's being in downtown Newton.

I dunno about that. I sold my Kubota, to get a larger tractor. In the used market, I wound up with a nice New Holland. It is up to par with what I have seen from Kubota.

All the dealers are hurting. Sales are down across the board; they all are hurting.

I have a Massey dealer 5 minutes away; I bought my used/consignment New Holland there. Otherwise, ALL the dealers are 45 minutes away or more.

Just my luck. I buy a brand new TC34DA, 14la FEL and 758C BH 1 yr. ago and now the dealer goes belly up. I should have listened to my friends advice and bought a Kubota! Their local dealer will probably never go under!

This economy is going to clean out alot of small ownerships and trim the fat on the bigger ones.:(

My local NH dealer has been in business since the 1940's and was a NH dealer since the late 70's.

NH pulled their franchise last spring but no one knows why. They are still in business selling all their other lines and they still service the NH tractors They still stock new NH tractors on their lot and still sell NH parts but are going through another NH dealer.
