Attaching a 2 inch umbrella pole to a 4X4 on a deck - Need suggestions on hardware

A couple of 2" galvanized or stainless steel steel conduit straps. The holes are large enough to take heavy wood screws or small lag bolts, and they are strong enough to hold a large umbrella securely.

With galvanized strap, I would be concerned about getting it tight enough to be reliably secure. I'd go with U-bolts or hose clamps personally. Given the size of U-bolt that would be required to go around a 4x4, I'd probably lean towards hose clamps, although they'd be less attractive, and would bite into the wood at the corners.

I'm a bit late but here's what I did. I got two copper pipe hanger clamps. They come in two different styles. The first uses two screws, one on each side and the other uses one screw and the outer half swings open. The inner half has a threaded hole and I just picked up a stud from the local hardware store that's half wood screw and have threaded rod. I put a piece of plastic inside the loop to cause enough friction so the umbrella could be turned but wouldn't spin on it's own. The copper looks nice.

While I think that all solutions mentioned will work fine, I believe Runner's solution, shown in his attached pictures, actually look like this addition was a designed and integral part of the deck from the start, not just a pipe bolted on. If functionality is the main goal then go with one of the other solutions, they probably take less time to implement. If looking as if the deck was originally built with this feature is also a goal, my opinion is you should go with something similar to Runner's solution.
