Hello, my husband has a Ford N8 tractor and would like to put a snowblower attachment on it. Does anyone know if it will power a 4 or 5 foot snowblower? Thank-you

An 8N has about 25 PTO HP so a 5 foot blower should be no problem. I have a 5 foot blower on an 18 HP PTO tractor. My guess is that a 4 foot (not very common) would be too small because it wouldn't cover the width of the rear tires.

It can be done but operation could be tricky. I believe the 8N does not have a live power takeoff. That means that one clutch controls both the tractor drive wheels and the PTO, so when you push the clutch to stop moving, you also stop the PTO, which causes snow to plug up the blower chute. If reverse gear is slow enough, you can work with it, always remembering to raise the blower and clear the chute before pushing the clutch. If reverse gear is too fast, this gets very tricky and frustrating. I speak from experience with a blower on two different non-live PTO tractors, and I don't want to go there again.

Waste of time, 8N doesn't have live power and geared too fast in reverse.

^^This. I got a GREAT deal on a Pronovost Puma 64 blower from a gentleman that found that out the hard way.

Another option would be a pull type blower. There are ARPs and other pull mount blowers that were designed to be used with 8N's. A blower mounted in reverse would not work at all with an 8N. I have one and it is a break neck speed in reverse. If I recall right reverse is geared about the same as 2nd in forward.
