It’s usually the adjustments of the nut behind the steering wheel the determines clutch life.

I’ve used a Lucknow 6’ single stage snowblower on the rear of my mahindra 2816 hst. 22 pto hp. I’m pretty slow with it, never really bogged engine much. But curious, will this cause pto clutch premature failure. Anyone have pto clutch failure from longer term abuse with to large of an attachment or even heavy abuse with a proper size attachment? Is this snowblower too large for this machine. I never really overloaded it through much snow.

Your engine will lug down and stall on too large of an implement a long time before you will wear the PTO clutch/clutch pack (what ever your tractor has)

If your engine is holding RPM and the blower is losing speed....your PTO is slipping.

Engaging PTO at idle with no load on the machine isn't going to wear much it at all.....dropping PTO in gear at wide open throttle with the blower full of snow different story.

If your PTO has a PTO brake (when you shut PTO off) I doubt blowing your yard out every snow storm is going to wear it out appreciably compared to any other PTO implement without an overrunning clutch. You likely turn the PTO on once when you start and off when you are done, so one shut off a snow storm.

I'd say use it and enjoy your tractor and blower.

I've got a 22hp Massey Turdisson with a 52" 2 stage, single auger blower on the back and other than the blower not being heavy enough to scrape the driveway clean it works fine even with moderately wet snow. About the only time the shear pin breaker is if I get too much ice in the hopper. The shear pin that usually breaks in the one at the transmission end of the driveshaft. In really wet snow I don't even try to use the blower, I just use the bucket to clear my 325 foot driveway. My machine has a hydrostatic transmission. I live up near Bangor, Me and have been using this equipment for almost 20 years. Over all I think these small tractors are too light to move a lot of snow as I "occasionally" have to get myself out of a ditch or snow bank. If I could afford it, I'd get myself something heavier in another color.
