Attachments I can make money with? What ones am I missing?

My new Mahindra 2555 with cab comes in tomorrow or the next day. I am trading in my 2538. I have many attachments as in the summer I make my living with my tractor. Mainly I do gravel driveways and till lawns. I have a tiller or course, getting a grapple, box blade, landscape rake, forks,. I think that is it. I am taking a loan so I want to put everything into it that I think I need. Guy who just started working with me has a stump grinder. Anything I am missing that you make money with?

What about snow removal in winter? A FEL plow, PTO snowblower and sand spreader would be money makers in your neck of the woods.

Have you thought about a backhoe? I make a few $$ installing drainage culverts and digging perc test pits for septic systems. The smaller CUT tractors can get into tight places where full size excavators have trouble.

I have a 64 inch rear snowblower but may go to a larger one. I have advertised but never been called. i can rent a small excavator when I need it for less than the hassle of taking my box blade off. The box blade is pretty much on all summer. I have had no calls for mowing. I do not have a mower but thought someone would ask. I don't think a post hole digger would do anything. I can get 200 off on each piece right now so wondering if anything I need

If you're installing lawns check into a power rake. Not cheap, but awesome for removing rocks and leveling lawns.

Consider a back blade with 6 way adjustment. Better than a box blade as you can angle and move out past the tread pattern. Post hole digger opens another service option. Dig the holes for someone else to install the fence. You will want an aggressive tooth bar for your FEL. BH can make a lot of money removing bushes and small trees as well as planting them. Stump grinder for expanded service opportunity, walk behinds are a bi**h.

Power rakes are awesome but not the budget. The post hole digger sounds like something cheap that could be used somewhere down the road.Guy working for me has a stump grinder. Not sure I would ever have use for a rear blade. Maybe. I do love my box blade. Getting a wider one. I think a grapple would offset the tooth bar? All good ideas. I am looking through the book and I am pretty blank, Land leveler?

If you are working on many gravel driveways - I would definitely give 2 thumbs up for a Land leveler. I have a 72" Land Pride and it does a great job on my 600 ft driveway. Also - check out the many positive reviews here on TBN - I think you'll agree it's one of the best tools for working gravel drives.

When I see suggestions to use digging implements commercially I immediately think of all the comments in this forum about the high cost of liability insurance when you start working below the surface. Isn't that a concern here?

If you are going to grade, you need a top & tilt set. If all you are going to do is smooth out drives, then a LPGS is the answer. A LPGS should be a must have either way IMO if you are working on drives. If you are going to actually shape drives and do water control, then a rear blade is far faster than a box blade. Need at least hydraulic angle on the blade.

Does your Mahindra dealer deal with other than Mahindra implements? None of the Mahindra grading implements are up to professional use IMO. All just home owner stuff.

Land planes are not cheap, and while you may think that the Mahindra HD line is heavy, they are not. To be fair to your customers, you should be using a box that weighs at a minimum of 1000lbs. I'm fairly certain that not one of Mahindra's box blades is that heavy.

But if you can get away with lesser implements, more power to you. :thumbsup:

I wouldn’t waste money on a 3 point post hole digger for any commercial work. You need a hydraulic one for the loader so you can apply down pressure and actually dig.

if you are getting pallet forks this thumb comes in handy, it can be unbolted when not needed. I believe HLA makes a similar model

Ok... just off the top of my head... and not really in any order of importance... How about a big area finish mower and perhaps a post hole digger with a big auger head for planting trees for people?

All good ideas. I have looked at the Mahindra brush mowers but never pulled the trigger. Not sure anyone would hire me.

A brush hog will be of use but a finish mower not so much. To many big zero turns out there but it may be different in your area. Sounds like you got it covered on implements,maybe rear straight blade. I don’t know how much trailer you have but I can’t carry but so much with me at once anyway.

I agree. Staying above ground has far less risk to your financial well being.

PTO rotary ditcher? Not a lot around my area, and I think people try to figure out what to do to 'make do'. If you could offer to clean out ditches, it would be easy on your machine but might be good for your wallet.

Most useful 'special equipment' I own is my Danuser Intimidator. You might look at it or some variant and offer fence row cleaning, brush removal, etc. Especially if you have a grapple to move the brush afterwards. You can pull a lot of crap with a good FEL puller.

These are cheaper than the Danuser, but I've heard good things. If you look at them, make sure your FEL has the power to pull whatever things you offer. Advertise, 'Up to x" trees removed' etc.

Not sure how much work your wanting....but to me... fall lawn renovation.....aeration and overseeding is decent to do. I can make $12 per 1,000 square feet. True green will get up to $16 to $17 dollars per square foot for aearation only. The equipment is expensive but your customers will see results either that fall or the next spring.

I have a new DR Stump grinder. Someone on here mentioned they are a pain....but I have not experienced that at all. It was much much easier to grind that stump than it was to cut down that tree and haul it off. No comparison. It has sharp teeth because it is new and it is mine, and I got the biggest motor that they sell for it....and it crushes the stumps....I mean destroys them...quickly....and I have a huge deep hole outside. I am grinding some stumps this weekend at a business associate's lake house this weekend.
