Atv drawn flail mower

Good evening all,

Just wondering if anyone has one of these things. Pow-r-kraft atv drawn flail mower. I bought one on a whim ($1695 shipped to me in Virginia from Oregon). The next closest is a good bit more expensive.

I bought a 59 inch cut and it is powered by a knock off Honda engine.

Anyone have one? Anything I should plan on upgrading? I am going to use it behind my 3010 diesel mule. I have a 44 inch swisher rotary I use for my small mowing now as well as a 60 inch swisher finish mower. I am going to replace both with this. I have a zero turn for my lawn and a 10 foot schulte rotary for the big mowing. Just need something small for our walking trails and such around the property.

I bought an Alamo fail mower, commercial grade, with the Honda red engine. The first thing I found was that the 12" wheels were way too small for field or trail work. It appears to be designed for mowing parks and ball fields. So I put on some much bigger go cart wheels to raise it up a bit. But the front lip still would catch on clumps of grass and cause it to flip over. So we put a ball-type hitch and reinforced the tow arms. Still would catch and flip, spilling gas and catching fire [to itself and the grass] all while the 80 chain knives kept whirling -- not a good situation. I never even made it to a real trail because it was obviously not going to work.

The other thing I found was that it is very hard to hold an ATV at a steady pace. Turing corners or starting up a hill it would bog down [Honda 450 ES] and when you added more throttle it would zoom ahead. and its not a comfortable as a tractor or even lawn tractor since there is no back to lean on.

I hope you have better luck but I had to conclude that ATVs aren't tractors and mowing is for mowers.
