ATV Log Arch - anyone using one?

I'm using a tractor arch with my little datsun 4wd pu. It works great, designed to fully suspend up to 36" dia. 16' long logs. I routinely fully suspend logs longer than 16' and with a smaller arch tailing have fully suspended 45'. There is an atv arch by the same company and I have demo'd it and it works great also. Future Forestry Products is the mfg. and they have a good website.

yeti - would like to see your pictures. Are they digital? If so, I just put mine on the Computer Hard Drive, then click the BROWSE block when reviewing the message - the file that the photos are in comes up and I select the one wanted and it works for me. This site also has the instructions for posting photos. Probably a more sophisticated way of doing it, but always believe "that what-ever works" is usually good enough.

I built my own arch I can either hand pull it or use the 4 wheeler it lifts the log off the groung. no mor dirt in the logs well worth the time i have in building the arch. if you are looking for an easy and safe way to move your log to your truck or trailer this is the way to go

After a lot of research I bought a Bercomac (Canada) #700479 two wheel Log Arch, which Bercomac calls a Skidder, for $450 new, plus freight, from Bercomac's dealer in Iowa City, Iowa. (12/2010) Arch works as supposed to: fine.

Skidder is 270 pounds; made out of 2-3/8" tubing. ($1.67 per pound) Material being what it is, I doubt I could have made one from new purchased stock for less. Bercomac Skidder compares with Northern Tool Skidmate which is $799 plus freight. Other Arch brands $1000++ though also larger.

I made mine for about $175. Made of 3" rectangle tube, lawn mower tires, some rebar and a come a long to do the lifting. It works great and I couldn't log without it. I also made a dolly for the back of the longer logs and on the longer skids.
Not as pretty or as good as the $850 versions but my time and money well spent.

I made mine from "stuff" I had laying around, garden tractor wheels, misc. scrap iron, & a boat winch. Use the winch to lift, then chain the log to tow. Tail trailer for long logs makes for easier towing! ~~ grnspot110
