Ah-hah! (light bulb goes on). I now see the beauty of your creation. It was the one picture that I didn't see before...the hinged lever that raises the log.

I still think, though, that you might get better performance (ie. heavier logs and better maneuverability) if the weight of the log was centered between the wheels.

Ithink thats a nice lookin rig.Im building one this winter,i already have the axle and hubs and tires .Im gonna use a winch or comealong to lift them and then chain em up,and let the pressure off the winch.

I haven't read all the posts, but I was wondering if you have the tongue-ball hitch where it will swivel 360 degrees as for sure it will tip over now and then if you pull from an angle. Nice looking creation though. I have been thinking of building something for my quad too.

These work real well.

Look at the yellow logging cone:
Manufacturer of the best Portable Winch with rope with capstan and a powerful Honda engine. Ideal for logging, rescue, construction, hunting, ATV, farming or boating Pulling Docks Portable Winch ATV Winch

We liked them so much along with the winch and pulley system we became a dealer. Their pulley/release system also would let you drive down a trail and yet still pull a log to the trail without having to get off and change pulley setups for each directional change. Wish I had thought of that idea!

They have lots of dealers you can buy them from.

Their choker chains and ropes as well as their pulleys are nice too.

Made my own logging cone. I took a 35 gallon poly barrel, cut it half, then cut a 4 inch hole in the bottom. Works great.

Now that is a great idea!!! I like it. Especially if you have the barrels with the curved sides. I have a few but they are too small

You folks motivated me to build one this weekend. I had enough stuff laying around so wasn't out anything but time. I made a bed that goes on the arch so it can be used as a trailer and dumped by the winch. My son came over a bit early so that part isn't on, but you can see how it works.

What about these? So simple, but the work really well!!!

Montana Jacks QuadSkidder w/Chain Kit - QS-2000

I'm really surprised that the mere simlicity of this set-up didn't see more attention with you guys. Why deal with tires and axles that are easily stuck or broken when you can slide right across the ground. This is the design I prefer as it it tough to break.
