ATV tires on lawn tractor?

/ ATV tires on lawn tractor? #11
I have a Husky 2348 lawn tractor. It has the stock smooth tread on the rear tires, which are 20x8x8.

I have a heavily sloped property and at some spots cannot get traction. I could go side to side, but then I'd risk tipping over.

Has anyone successfully mounted ATV tires and wheels on their riding mower? I'd like to raise the machine with larger diameter tires as well. As long as the wheel width is the same, it should fit on the axle I think. And according to other Husky models, the rear tires can be as large as 23 on that frame.

I'm willing to have some turf wear in order to get up and down the hills.

Thanks, VA

20x8x8 is hard to find.I'm looking for some chevron style Ag tires in that size.I can find 20x10x8 but I am told that this size is to wide for an 8" wheel. The other option is a 16x8x8 which maybe ok,since I am changing all four tires,I could just get shorter fronts which are 15x6x6.If my wheels weren't specific to MTD/Bolens,I would use different wheels. If you find something that will work. Please let me know.

I put them on my Cub Cadet and now it doesn't have nearly the traction it did with the smooth tires and chains. I'm even using wheel weights on it and still it isn't as good especially in snow.

I have a steep lot and a low Muarry rider I want to use for mowing. It has small rear tires I can't find chains for. Guessing AG tires will be only choice.

Yesterday I got a pair of Kenda Scorpion ATV tires for the rear of my Husky 2348. The Kenda's are 22X10X8. The tires that were on the machine were 20X8X8, so I was a little worried that they would be too wide, but they beaded right up and fit the rim perfectly. I also put one inch larger diameter tires on the front, so the mower has a little higher clearance now.

The traction difference is amazing. I mowed some very steep, very wet areas yesterday. Never lost traction. The tires are a dimpled, knobby design, and they did not seem to do much damage at all to the grass.
