ATV Tires

The Carlisle HD Fieldtrax tire that someone suggested is the same as the AP tire that I got on my JD595 tractor. They are okay for traction, but they really load up with dirt/mud, and aren't good at self-cleaning. I have a Honda Foreman and a JD Gator HPX and wouldn't even consider the Carlisle if/when I have to replace tires for either.

i can't agree with you more on them fieldtrax tires. they are great for turf but man any kinda mud will clog them up. plus they are heavy i had a set on the rear of my honda fourtrax 125 and if i would have had the money at the time i would have taken them off and burned them.

Unless you ride a lot of mud, it's hard to beat the Maxis Bighorn. They have good traction, are tough and wear extremely well. I've put over 2000 miles on mine, I ride hard, and the corners of the tread block are still sharp, they look nearly new. A friend has over 4000 miles and they have a lot of life left, still more tread than stock tires do when new. They do very well on rocks and I have been happy in snow. I'd say they are the most commonly used tire by the serious riders in my area. They do OK in the mud if that's your thing, but are not as well as a dedicated mud tire. Kendra Bearclaws are also pretty common, but don't wear nearly as well, a friend went through a set in a year.

sorry for a late reply, I put a set of maxxis bighorns on. They have some deep tread and big knobs so they should last a while
