ATV/UTV Diesels.....How many hours is ALOT?

Thanks Woodchuck,
I hadn't considered the GAS version cause it is 4 MONTHS (late NOV till mid MAR) that I stay away from Va. Then I only get there about every 3 months for 12 days. (I would love to be there more but wife won't leave Fl and I'm too old to leave wife)
Anyway, enough of that....With STABIL and octane boost do you think I could keep a gas unit running? I hesitate cause it's hard enough to keep the chainsaw running (and I can run it empty)
And that's another issue....Some say run it dry.....others say use stabil and leave it wet....???

My biggest worry would be consistently leaving fuel in there for 3 months and then not using it up on the next visit....over time a portion of that fuel is 6 months old and the stabil may or may not be able to preserve it. Nothing sucks more than needing your machine and having to take it to the shop instead. You lose time and you have a logistical labrinth to work thru to figure out how to get it back after you have gone home. The answer is that I do not know.

+2000 hours on our 1996 RTV 900. Just has to sink some money to replace just about every bearing and U-Joint. 2 years ago we redid the rotting bed. Motor & Trans Etc very dependable. had a few electrical issues, but the thing is not anywhere close to be worn out, maybe 1/2 way there. Going to need third seat soon. We use it fairly hard.
Hmm,I thought 2004 was the first year of the Kubota RTV 900?We have a 2006 RTV 900 with 850 hours that runs great.

Using Startron you have a 2 year storage life on fuel. I do not use Stabil anymore, I did until this new fuel came around and then all the snowmobile shops recommended not buying that product and instead using the Startron. It is a light blue bottle, Tractor Supply has it priced nicely at around $7. I run Starton in my cans and make sure any stored gas equipment has it in the fuel tank.

The ONLY belt drive I like is Yamaha's! It has a "separate" clutch, INSTEAD of using the "belt" for part of the clutch, like a sno-mobile clutch/tranny. Yamaha's system is MUCH better than the other belt drives and will hold up to being worked hard... SR

Good point. Having a real clutch (instead of slipping the belt) leads to much smoother positive engagements. A lot of CVT only machines are pretty jumpy in my opinion.

We have a Honda Pioneer 1000. I'm still undecided as to how much I like or dislike the 6 speed dual clutch transmission.

Personally I like the CVT's on the ATV I had (Kawasaki Brute Force 750) and my current side by side (Polaris RZR 900s).
I've had multiple snowmobiles with this system.
I trail ride only and they work great.
Can't comment on the CVT for work machines, I don't use mine for that.

I bought a new Mule Pro FXT with the gas engine. I looked at the diesels and for Mules anyway, the payloads weren't any better, the towing capacity wasn't any better and torque was actually less. They have built a bazillion gasser Mules and a lot of them have been run hard and won't die so I stopped myself from overthinking it and bought a gas one.

Nothing wrong with gas. I went diesel due to converting nearly all equipment to diesel and the ease of having bulk on property.

Yes, 2004 was when the RTV was introduced.

We bought a used 2009 RTV1140 in 2014 with ~700 hrs. This model converts between a 2 and 4 seater. We have a soft cab for it and use it to plow snow in the winter. Hauls people, trailers and material in the summer. We put about 100 hrs per year on it. Excellent, strong machine.

We also have a nice quiet electric Club Car that is great for running around with when you don’t need/want the power/noise of the diesel RTV.

On the electric side of things, my in-laws have a 48V EzGo RXV and that has a lot more power than the 36V one that it replaced. If anyone is looking at an electric golf cart, try both a 36V and a 48V cart.

I found and bought a 2015 Kubota 1120 D (Diesel) with only 86 hours. Looks like new, when I got it home and went under it to change the oil and TWO hydraulic filters/fluid I found at least a "hundred pounds" of Myrtle Beach sand...guess he and his buds were "sand crabs". Anyway, it seems to be in pretty good cond, hyd bed, camo etc. I'm looking at tires now.....it has balloon type 12". My property has no water, mud or sand....I have wooded trails with sapling stakes sticking up, limbs to climb over and loose leaves everywhere. I'm thinking of getting 14" wheels to add ground clearance and not sure about tires. I have ruined several tires from SIDEWALL cuts on those blasted sapling cutoffs. Do 6 or 8 ply tires have thicker SIDEWALLS? I see that most ATV/UTV's have 8"wide tires front and 10" tires rear....WHY is this..for load?
Comments WELCOMED....Laughter will not be tolerated....well, maybe some...
