He would need a gearbox too. 540 RPM is too low to generate any power.

oil change or not if you disconnected the oil pressure sensor and ran unit for an hour with out the proper oil pressure, how do you expect a warranty to cover you? come on now be real.

I have an Aurora 6500SD

I bought it a few years ago as a backup unit for my house in the country. It only has about 40 hours on it so far, but it runs very nice. I had to change the fuel filter housing since it leaked, and I put a battery disconnect on it to keep the battery alive. It starts and runs real good. It's kept in an uninsulated shed all winter. At first the lights would flicker with minimal load on it, but everything smoothed out. The battery terminals broke from vibrations, had to be replaced with better ones.
It's not a superb unit, but it does what its supposed to. I'll be getting another high end genset later on, this one was just the beginning.

I never expected much as far as warranty is concerned, but I never do.

Sorry about your troubles, get it fixed and keep it as a secondary unit if you don't trust it. A smaller honda genset might be just what you are looking for.

xp

I suppose a few other parts as well. My point was to salvage *something* out of it.

Didn't the OP also state he's owned/used it for 3 years, and only just recently changed the oil for the first time?? Regardless of how many hours are on the oil, it only lasts a certain time. And this was the oil it was delivered with? Personally, I would have changed it before my first use, and used an Amsoil synthetic changed yearly.

I hate to hear someone is having problems, but there are multiple places the genset isn't at fault here.

Seriously what difference does it make? The warranty is trash just like the machine. Even IF the OP had a serviceman come out with an oil gauge and realize the engine makes little oil pressure do you think Awhore-a would have covered ANYTHING?

The answer is NO, FLAT......OUT........NO.

So what difference does it make, this crappy company put the burden on the buyer when the burden should be on the OEM until blame can be landed on the buyer.

If you are going to build and sell a product you'd better stand behind it, if you won't stand behind it then get out, go back to China and screw somebody over there.

End of rant!

Regards, Fred

Re: Gasoline Standby Generators.

Fuel them with STABIL treated gasoline, run them once a month (or so) under load and assuming you have a Honda engine, you can sleep at night knowing you have backup power. Believe me, in the land of power outages, a quality generator coupled to a Honda GX is the ONLY way to go for loads of 6500w or less. If you can't load shed down to 65 kw with your transfer switch you have too much money and go buy a 12kw Kubota silent enclosure, 100 gallon double wall tank.

Cheers.
