Well here I am again posting pics of our place in OZ.

But this time my wife took them while I took her up for her first flight since I got my restricted pilot's licence.

I think the taking of photos took her mind off the fact that she was scared !!!

Our house is the one with the pool. My shed is to the bottom of the house (Looks like another house)

The house to the top of ours is the neighbours. Yes we have 6 acres but stupidly they built those 2 houses so close together. They are on the top of the ridge and get better views but d'oh!

The land was cattle country hence the lack of trees. We have planted lots (All the dots with hay are new trees !)

You can see my screen planting down that side to try and hide their house !

Cheers

Another pic showing my dam in the bottom right with new wing walls we built (not with the tractor as I have no loader - but with a 12T excavator).

House is then up the hill with the pool and the shed to the right and the neighbours (d'oh !) to the left !

Cheers

Will your neighbors think it strange that you build a screen so you won't have to look at them and then fly over in a plane taking their picture? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Seriously, the green roof is your neighbor? Or the house way at the top? The green roof looks like it could be an outbuilding its so close.

Yes unfortunately the green roof is a neighbour !!

We spent days and nights driving past before we bought to check out the neighbours and saw very little signs of life.

Only after we moved in we found out they have 5 kids!!!!

Aggghhh

No they are OK and we have little to do with them.

My shed is where I work and we spend most of out time in the pool or at the dam or somewhere in between !

Cheers

Well harv my paint skills leave a lot to be desired but.............

A new pic showing my boundaries and the extent to which the trees I have planted so far (in 1 year) should grow.

The red line also shows are area towards the front/road that I mow with the rideon and the area I slash towards the rear/dam.

Mind you it has been so dry I haven't slashed the rear since March !!!

Cheers

Neil, congratulations on getting your pilot's license. Your pictures are very nice and I'm sure you will use them many times for planning projects. I use my aerial photos all the time. Of course, it's very hard to see elevations from the air. How much does your land drop from the hillside down to your pond and dam? It looks like you have a good runoff, because you have lots of water in your pond and you said it hasn't rained much. Two years ago, both my ponds went bone dry and even our 20 acre soil conservation lake dropped down to about 10 acres under water. Dry years are really depressing.
Even being so close to the neighbor, it still looks like you have a beautiful place and with your tree planting and landscaping, you will be plenty busy and have lots of good tractoring. Thanks for sharing your photos with us. It will make it a lot easier to picture when you describe a project.

Actually, it looks like the neighbor is closer to the line than you are. What is it, about 2 car lengths? (Sorry, my conversion to meters math is rusty to non-existant).

You can't tell it by that picture, Neil. Hard to make it any clearer than you did. /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

Nice hunk o' land, too, neighbors or not.

Yes nice to have wings finally even though I am still attached with a long rope. Have to do my navigation now to get my Private Pilot's Licence.

Fall is not much, maybe 5 metres. We had 82mm of rain on New Years Eve, just after we made those wing walls. The dam should stay much fuller now I have increased the catchment by some 50% I reckon.

Dam never got any water in it all year and filled in one night. It is only small though compared to yours.

My house is about 12m from the boundary and theirs must be much the same. Yes 2 car lengths is appropriate. We are happy as having a 2 storey home we get 360 degree views, even though 5 degrees of that is our neighbours house !!

Harv

I am sure you could do wonders with that. Can you airbrush out my neighbours for me????

Cheers

Great pictures Neil, I'm going to show them to my better half. She has been interested in someday visiting Australia and New Zealand. Are you going to stock your pond?
