From the Internet

The other day I was in the local auto part store.A lady comes in and asks for a seven ten cap.

We all looked at each other and said, “What’s a seven ten cap?”

She said “You know, it’s right on the engine. Mine got lost some how and I need a new one.”

”What kind of a car is it on,” they asked?

I’m thinking maybe an old Datsun Seven Ten, but no, she said its a Buick.

”OK lady, how big is it?”

She makes a circle with her hands about 3-1/2 inches in diameter.

What does it do?,” we asked.

She said, “I don’t know, but its always been there.”

One of us gave her a note pad and asked her if she could draw a picture of it.

So she makes a circle about 3-1/2 inches in diameter and in the center she writes 710.

The guys behind the counter are looking at it upside down as she writes it...and they just fall down behind the counter laughing in hysterics. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

See what happens when a guy takes a few vacation days and doesn't keep up with TBN.

My Dad's a partsman for Dodge. He gets women customers often, and usually has no problem figuring out what they are looking for(he's been at it for 32 years)

He said the worst thing is the husband or boyfriend... The ones who have the wife or girlfriend go get parts for them. They send them in with little or no information at all. "My husband needs part xyz for his Dodge..." But, the husband did not write down the year, the model, the engine type or displacement, tranny type ect... All they know is it's a Dodge, and maybe the model.

My Dad has a list of notes/questions that he sends them home with, so they can get the correct information. They usually leave happier after the initial confusion, cause now they know what to do in the future. I'm sure the significant other hears about it when they get home too.

I was a parts mgr for many years. My pet peeve was the answer that they were all the same. I got this from even mechanics. I finally solved it by saying oh great I can't give you the wrong part. They very quickly decidced to get more information. JIM
