Auto ramps

Anyone have any good plans for building a set of ramps for autos or light trucks?

I ended up finding a nice composite set at Autozone for about $45 that were rated more than enough for a Lt duty truck. I was going to make something but for the price figured it was not worth the trouble plus the safety factor was worth it.

Purchased a set of Rhino ramps rated for 12000 lbs. for the pair a few years ago from TSC on sale for $37. Believe they would handle almost any car or light truck.

Do you have any special requirements for your ramps.

I have a set of stamped steel ramps that I use for the cars.
I do have a problem with the Neon and Optima.
Their attack angle is so low, that I bump the ramped portion with the bumper/undercarriage before the wheels start to lift.

These cars are annoying in this regard, since they won't go on ramps and are much too low to climb under unlifted.

If it's close, you can get a few pieces of 2x8 to put in front of the ramps.
My father was too cheap to buy ramps, so he made his own out of 2x10 or 2x12. They were long , so they could be in the way if you need to go under just behind the wheels.
But the extra length made them work even with low cars, like my first Rx-7.
