The only studs I can think of are the ones in the end of the pump hub for the fan clutch. If they strip just change em on the new. Might do it anyway.
The windsor style engines have some funny looking long studs that hold various brackets and so on but I don't think there's any on a 460. Motormite/dorman makes the funny looking studs in an assortment if you have any. I'd change my rad hoses and the fan clutch if there's any play. Got em off anyway.

Thanks Scott, my Saturday is blocked off for Water Pump Day! I do plan on changing the hoses, hadn't thought much about the fan clutch. I'll check that out too.

If you do decide to change the fan clutch, my experience working in an auto parts store taught me to always buy OEM fan clutches. We carried Murray and had many problems/returns. Our competition carried 4 Seasons and had the same problems. OEM are more expensive than aftermarket but not after you factor in the troubles that can be caused by overheating.

The store where I work carries Hayden. We don't have many comebacks. I can think of two in the last 8-12 months. One failed immedately with a loud pop and I can't remember the other. Our main issue is people can't figure out how to get the threaded ones off.

They usually pull off the pump and bring the whole mess to me.

I've had success buying factory manuals on CDs from eBay, although that'd be overkill for a Ford waterpump. My Toyota factory manuals are $200 but were only $20 on a CD. Also have them on CD for my projection TV and three Honda generators.

I had a CD (or maybe even DVD) manual that I bought for my Truck off ebay - when FoMoCo publishes an update the techs at the dealership sell them on ebay. I think I gave it away, but I'll look tonight to see if I still have it (and if you truck is covered). I might be able to email you some pdfs.

Hey, that would be great haz, if you don't mind. I'm hitting the parts store tonight, I'll see what they can show me.
