I have a concealed carry permit. I sometimes play different scenerios in my head. It's good to do that.

Let me just throw this one out from a different angle...

Supposing McLean did shoot the robber. Would you think it would be murder since McLean left the premises and then came back in with a gun, (and shot the robber). He had a chance to escape but returned with the premeditated plan to kill the robber. I think if you have a reasonable escape option, deadly force cannot be used. If McLean already had the gun on him when the robbery happened and shot the guy, then that's a horse of a different color.

That's an angle the dead robber's lawyers will use.

Except he knew the gunman had his coworker and he would use the reasoning of saving his coworker.

Does anyone have Mr. McLean's mailing address?

Maybe that's why he didn't pull the trigger. If the robber points a gun at him, it doesn't matter if it was a revolving door. It's still considered a threat. Mr. McLean was within his right to point the gun at the guys head. If the robber made a threatening move, well let's say he wouldn't have ran away. Now if the robber didn't raise his weapon and Mr. McLean capped him. Who's going to say he wasn't threatened before he put the guy down. It's a no win for the robber when someone has a bead between his eyes. Drop the gun, run or die was probably going thru his head. He chose the door.

Late to the game but count me as another regular shopper that will no longer do so.

Thanks Will for posting this!

There is good and there is evil in the world. Sometimes a person has to just draw a line in the sand... I would have done the same as the fired AZ employee, except that I would have put two 9mm hollow points in the bad guy's chest and one in his head before he hit the floor. A bad guy with a gun is NOT to be trusted to turn and run away. Don't bet YOUR life on it!!
