I'm not exactly two days into it, but so far so good. :) After I installed it I noticed it said the e-mail scanner was fully functional, yet when I send/receive e-mail it wasn't scanning. It was a royal pain in the butt to get it configured properly for use with Thunderbird. Now that I got it running it has occured to me that for the past year and half that I had Norton, it wasn't scanning the e-mail like it should have! :eek::eek::D On the previous install before that it scanned the e-mail just fine. Oh well, I'm liking how the computer seems to shut down and boot up faster.:D

Honestly, I have had no luck whatsoever, trying to get my PC to do anything I wanted after two bottles of Thunderbird. Best of luck to you :)

Hmmm... That would be an issue, wouldn't it? :eek: However, I'm talking about the Thunderbird that doesn't leave you in a drunken stooper. :D:D

do you have to uninstall the current version of AVG OR CAN YOU JUST GET THE NEW VERSION AND INSTALL OVER THE OLD VERSION?

I run WinME on my desktop and XP on my laptop. I updated both machines to V7.5 without uninstalling the previous version. I've had no problems.

I should have just included the instructions in my original post. You do not have to uninstall the old version.

1. Run the AVG Free Edition 7.5 Setup program
2. Click "Next" on the AVG "Welcome!" screen
3. Click "Accept" on the "License Agreement on Use of an AVG Free Edition" screen
4. Select "Repair installation" on the "Select Setup Type" screen and click "Next"
5. Select "Restart the computer now" (pre-selected by the program automatically) and click "OK" on the "Installation Complete!" screen to restart your computer and complete the installation

Some years back we had a problem and Norton gave us the run-around. We've been with AVG ever since and did the new install several weeks back. I'm a believer in their product, and I especially like the way it checks and documents that your email is virus free.

Just spent the entire day trying to get Norton to work. Finally dumped it and went with AVG. I don't know how I will like it, but I do know that I HATE Norton at this point. Three differant times that I called tech services they say that they will fix the problem, but there was no resolution to the problem. It just wouldn't do the updates. The last time I called, after following all the advise, they said that I would have to pay for the technical service. I just paid $70 to purchase the software, so there was no way that I was going to spend any more money with them.

You'll love it and the seemless updates. I've been using AVG for 4 or 5 years now and never even a hiccup :)
