Decided to go with the B-2601 rather than the B-2301 as someone here suggested, thanks. My local dealer did not even come close in the running and I have bought 4 tractors from him over the past 35 years. The same salesman who did not appear to care too much about being within the competitive range at least, he was more than 2 K higher than Messicks and even higher yet (2.5 K) than the Virginia dealer I actually ordered from. That lower price induced me to include an 82" x 18' foot tandem wheel trailer (they include them at a great price in their "deals) which will be used to transport the tractor and sickle bar mower to Maryland. I actually went and got a quote for a John Deere 2025R with one of their in-house (Frontier) sickle bar mowers but they were about 2K higher than the Kubota and the Kubota B-2601 has a lot of performance advantages in PTO power, 3-point lift capability and hydraulic flow 8.3 gpm versus 5.6 gpm. Goes to show that dealers are really way far apart on their pricing for some reason.

Oh, got $ 4,750 for my BX 1850 with mower only, no FEL on Ebay so that helps out quite a bit.

hydraulic flow 8.3 gpm versus 5.6 gpm

Remember that the B2601 has two pumps - one steering one 3ph, and the 8.3gpm that you quote is the combined total. Of course, the steering pump doesn't contribute to lifting anything, the actual 3ph flow is closer to what you quote for the Deere. I'm not sure whether the Deere is also a two pump machine and therefore it's real capacity is lower still. Flow only really matters if you're running an implement that requires a particular hydraulic flow, if you're just interested in 3ph and loader, then the combination of lift capacity and cycle time is all that matters.

I used total flow specs for both tractors. Yes, it is nice to have adequate flow for specific implements one might want to acquire in the future.
