B 26 backhoe running slower and slower

Don't forget setting pressures is only half the battle....the complaint here is it's going slower and slower......if you had normal pressure and only 10% of the flow rate (meaning pump is coming closer to junk)....then the pressures would read fine.....but the reality is the pressure needs to be set properly AND it has to have flow rate up to keep up with normal speeds desired

Of course of the PRV is set too low then it will react the same way by-passing flow prematurely to the reservoir instead of doing work and the flow rate will be diminished at the work (going slower)

Pressure guages are great but don't tell the whole story, only half......Wasn't it Akkaman that said "Pressure makes the power , but flow makes it move".....

Speaking of which....anybody heard from him....:confused3:

I was just out checking the rig again and now see that the FEL is also much weaker than it was just a few months ago. Now I dont know if the pump is going bad or not. I sure wouldnt think the hydraulic pump would be worn our at 220 hours on a commercial grade rig like the B26.

I would highly recommend a flow and pressure test on your pump.

If the pump within specs, then you will know that the pressure and flow potential is available.

You're right, now its back to the dealer again and hopefully this time they will do what I ask and not dick around.
Will give them a call tomorrow and see if they have the capability to do these test. One would think so, but they failed the first time. Problem is there is not another dealer within 100 miles of here. Timberline owns all the Kubota dealers in this area.

I hope you're not going to pay them again, for what you asked them to do the first time.

Well didnt get a chance to do anything with the Kubota, had to take the wife on a shopping tour. I maybe i will have time to take it in before we leave for Christmas holidays Wednesday. Wont be back till after Christmas then.

It stinks you didn't get it fixed. I agree that you probably need the flow checked.

But there are some maintenance items that can cause the same symptoms. There (probably) is a flow return mesh screen that keeps large junk out of the pump. It's a royal PITA to get out on some models. Have you pulled it and cleaned it on your last fluid change? Did you change the hydraulic spin on filters? Those being clogged can give the same result as a bad pump, only they will CAUSE the pump to fluid starve and cavitate. Cavitation causes impeller erosion and permanent pump damage

I havent pulled the screen but did change all the filters. Likely to be after New Years before I do anything else to it now. We are heading to Houston for Christmas with kids and grand kids in a few days and I am sure dealer will be short handed over holidays, so everything is pretty much on hold till after New Years. I will post resolution when and if I find out what it is.
I can now hear the relief opening even with my bad hearing. I am a bit concerned that maybe something is sticking under the seat and allowing some bypass all the time which could be the reason for slow action, either that or pump is going out.

get you a gauge and eliminate the pressure as a problem then move on from there

Time for a little update on the B26. Weather has been so nasty that I havent messed with it as far as trying to figure out the problems. I still havent taken it back to the dealer and am thinking that I might try another dealer although he is 59 miles from me whereas Timberline is 27. Not any rush to work on it as I aint gonna be out in 25F weather doin' nuttin'
Well it warmed a bit today so I pulled the B26 into the shop and decided to try something that I hadnt tried before. After looking at my buddy Carl's diagram and thinking that is Kubotas way and mine supposedly wasnt, I thought that perhaps they didnt just swap the lines from one lever to the other. I took off the two lines in question, put the ones from the left control lever on the right control lever and took the line from the bottom and put it on the top and top one on the bottom. NOW it works as it should (for me at least) Now I push both levers and the boom and dipper extend and when I get it set to lets say dig 2" deep, I just pull both levers full back and it retracts and stays exactly that height. I just have to adjust the bucket to keep it level otherwise it ends up with the teeth up in the air.

Anyway, now I have to pull on the right lever to raise the boom rather than left lever<(I think)
