I just bought a tiltmeter and was wondering where some of you that have one have mounted them. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I saw a picture of one mounted on the frame support pillar for a fel. It looked good and extremely functional. If I get one, I plan to mount one one there. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I mounted mine on the hood of my old Deere 670. That tractor was used, so I didn't mind drilling holes in the hood.
If you bought an R&B Mfg. tiltmeter, you should receive two strips of double sided tape. If you use the tape, be absolutely sure where you want it before you pull the protective paper off the double sided tape.

Also, be sure your tractor is on as level an area as you can find (use a level, if you have one) when you mount the tiltmeter.

Tiltmeters are truly value-added, especially for new members of the tractor community. It's very difficult to gauge how much of a slope you're on by "seat of the pants".

I agree but only if the tractor manufacturers would give us safe operating angles. Right now all you can do is try it the first time with care and then use that test to know that you can go to that angle without a problem.

Any ideas???

I mounted mine, using the adhesive, on the black plastic "dash board" above the instrumentation of my BX.

Thanks for the suggestions, I have a new lot that I'm working on and it has a substantial slope. I tried to work on it last summer but couldn't get my tractor (L3710 with FEL & BH) up the hill. It kept sliding and slipping contributing factors a) wet clay soil b) fairly steep grade c) the tractor's previous owner had wsmall turf tires and d) lack of ground clearance on BH subframe. After wasting my summer vacation I traded the turf tires for the big R4s and the dealer also filled them and mounted them at the widest setting for stability, so I figure with these additional factors going for me If I follow the tiltmeter reccomendations I should stay on top of the hill. Thanks Again

My tiltmeter is mounted on the cowling just above the gangway down to the cabin. Alright I'm a bit of a smart alec occasionally, well mostly.
So far I find the tilt-o-meter on the sailboat both informative and pretty much useless. When the bow rail is in the water, the gear is sliding off the bunks and the tourists (family member passengers) are chuming for Albacore, I really dont need any instrument to offer comfirmation. Alright again, the boat will "round up" when the sails get over too far and a tractor won't. Educate me please. Is pucker factor a thing of the past?
What benefit is a tractor tilt meter, other than an attractive trinket, really? Be kind now, I can be convinced. I am a smiling smart alec with an open mind. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Everyones pucker factor doesn't work the same. Some are overly cautious and some think that they can go were they shouldn't.
They are useful for getting grade when working on a road or doing excavation.
