As an afterthought, I guess I should have included this photo , showing the tools I used for removal of the 17mm engine plug. The bottom of the photo shows the assembled socket / breakerbar / pipe extension combo that I used to extract it easily. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ..RayBee

Thanks a lot! My block heater has NO effect in cold weather. Maybe the cord is loose. Do you think it could be anything else?

Raybee, thanks to your instructions, I just replaced my block heater. I lost about a pint of coolant. To replace it do I just pour some in the plastic container under the hood? Thanks again!

Just installed a block heater in my B2400. Great instructions in this thread.

Just to add my two cents.

To get the plug out, I used a 17mm allen wrench and a cheater bar ( a 4 foot steel pipe) after letting the engine warm up. I did need to purchase a 35mm socket to tighten the block heater.

Approximate total cost for this modification $73. Cost breakdown follows: Block heater $45 at local Kubota dealer, 17 mm allen wrench $9 from Sears, 35mm socket $10 from O'Reilly Auto Parts, and 1 gal of premixed antifreeze $9 from O'Reilly Auto Parts.
