TIRE CHAINS FOR PT 422?

i'm a new to the forum and a relatively new pt 422 owner....and love it so far. recently i'm using it to clear snow from my driveway....it works great, but i would like more traction and thought a set of chains on the front may be the ticket.

has anyone had any experience using cable or other car chains with the pt? i'd appreciate any input and/or suggestions!

because the distance between the frame and the tires is minimal, i'm guessing the options are limited.

thanks,
bruce

Hi Bruce. Welcome to TBN.

If you do a search in the Power Trac forums here on TBN you will find a thread on tire chains for the PT400 series as well as links to a place that sells them.

Try searching for chains and tire and you should get some hits.

Hello Bruce,
Welcome to TBN and the PT family.
MossRoad mentioned this topic coming up earlier. I also was thinking of chains but then after one winter and current one, plowing snow has been no problem without them. There will be a few storms that would be nice to have chains but then I think the large bucket will be the order of the day.
What state are you in?

I tryed chains on the front last Winter and didn't see much improvment in traction. I think you reduce weight on front wheels when pushing snow. I didn't try it but I bet chains would work better on rear.

Welcome aboard BruceL /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We haven't had any snow to speak of here so I have no idea how my 422 will do. Last year we had around 24" but would you know it I didn't have the 422 /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif go figure.

Keep us up to date on your tire chain trek.

Hi Bruce. Welcome to the PT forum! You'll find a lot of help on here. I do recall seeing some information on chains when I was surfing prior to buying my PT.

As MR says, do a search and you will probably find what you are looking for.
