B2200 -- Warm starting?

 / B2200 -- Warm starting? #11
First summer I had my 2200, same thing happened. It would be intermittent. Then one hot Sunday (when Kubota was closed, of course) I shut it down for a lunch break, and couldn't restart it. Following the PTO lever, I found the switch. It was loosely connected. Tightened it, and it has never failed since. Way that I checked to see if the switch was good was to simply force the button in (make sure the PTO is really in neutral, of course). If it starts, its not the switch itself that is bad, just the orientation.

(As an aside, the whole starting mechanism is a little odd, even when cold. I keep the transmission in low, turn the key, then move it to N and a little past to get it to start. I was told this was a safety feature, but I'm not so sure. Is that normal?)

This is not normal. There is a safety feature there, but it is supposed to ensure that you are in Neutral. Your switch is messed up, for certain and if that tractor is still under warranty then I'd get the dealer to fix it pronto.

has to be some kind of safety switch, works fine when cold but not when warm.may be a pup to locate the problem. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
